Summary: The Best Low-Carb book ever!
Review: I swear this is the best book I've read on Low-Carb diets. It has everything you'd ever need to know to get started living a life full of energy. Thank you Dana for writing this wonderful book. I'd be lost without it!

Summary: Get the whole scoop without reading ALL the books!
Review: I've been low carbing for about 8 months, and have read LOTS of the most recommended books. I could have saved myself a great deal of time learning the different approaches if I'd read Dana Carpender's book FIRST! Now I know what to concentrate my reading on. Just ordered another copy to give to my sister and her family, so that they can learn more, too.

Summary: How I Gave Up My Low Fat Diet and Lost Forty Pounds
Review: I bought this book for my husband. He would starve on lowfat diets and never seem to lose much weight. We read this and it helped us create our own low-carb diet that would work for him - a month into it he is 15lbs lighter and most importantly to him is that he has never had so much energy. I get tired of people saying how I am going to kill him with this high fat eating - but I don't call a lean piece of meat with vegetables or veggies and dip for a snack as bad nutrition - not all diets are for everyone but for the people that this kind of diet works for it is god send - which is more deadly being 100lbs overweight or eating meat and veggies? You decide- Thanks Dana your book is great.

Summary: This book is a great motivator!
Review: I had read other books about low carb eating plans, but Dana Carpender's is the best by far. She writes like she is talking to a good friend which makes it extremely easy and also a very fast read! I read it twice in the space of 3 days! I found it to be very motivating to keep me on track and also very informative about many of the facets of low carbing that most books make sound like medical gobbledegook! There are also great ideas for maintaining a low carb lifestyle once your goal weight is achieved! Thanks, Dana for writing a great book, you've really helped me a lot!

Summary: Refreshing honesty - from one who knows
Review: My own experience of raging hunger and fatigue (without weight loss) on low fat diets, and confusion about "what is wrong with me" as a result, matches that of the author. Her honesty, and realistic means for using the (for many of us, miraculous) low carbohydrate approach, is quite valuable. Some of the chatty style is unintentionally offensive when the author tries to be humourous. Those readers who were (or are) larger than the author was, and who are struggling to get to the point where she was when she was a "blimp", would not appreciate her attempt at wit in describing herself that way. Though doctors will never accept this truth, there is no one approach that suits all - and it is wonderful to see that openly admitted.

Summary: It really works!
Review: Who would have thought that giving up low fat food would actually cause you to lose weight? Not me! But it really does. Dana Carpenders book is a light, yet informative look into this new way of eating. She keeps things upbeat and easy to read while also getting the point across. There are many ideas of quick snacks and meals. She not only discusses the benefits of low carb dieting, but also any risk factors there are. There is a great section on intereactions with other medications. I highly reccomend this book to anyone thinking about low carb dieting!

Summary: Dana cuts throught the hype!
Review: I work in the health industry and have seen diets come and go. Seems like everyone has a low carb diet plan to tell you about. I've read them all and Dana's book is the one to get! After I hit 40 I had trouble keeping the weight off. Dana's book is not a one size fits all. She decribes different stokes for different folks in easily understood detail. I was able to reverse the inevitable weight gain of aging and I feel great! Plus, Dana is a very entertaining writer. She will have you chuckling your way to better health.

Summary: I Lost Ten Pounds While Reading This Book!
Review: I spent two weeks reading this book over and over while practicing some of the principles and during that time I lost ten pounds! This book is entertaining, non technical and includes easy to understand summaries of all the popular low carb diets. I've read all the other books on this subject but this one is easily my favorite. Buy this book if you want the "skinny" on low carb diets!

Summary: Great summary of Low Carb eating, plus its a "fun read"!
Review: I enjoyed reading this book. Dana's writing style is entertaining, yet educational. I enjoyed the personal stories and the tales of friends and cyberpals who also were "big losers". The summaries of various LC plans was very helpful and made me think that I might follow Dana's lead this summer, doing the Paleolithic plan in order to be able to enjoy some of the summer's bounty of fresh fruit. I liked the book so much that I just ordered a second copy to be sent to a friend!

Summary: How I gave up my low fat diet and lost forty pounds
Review: What a treat to finally find a diet book that is not so full of scientific data that it doesn't take a bag of chips or cookies to help me get through it. I have had trouble in the past with diet books losing my interest because they were either too hard to understand, too wordy or too repetitive. This book is none of those things. In fact, Dana has done all of the work for you in reading all of the books out there and then spelling them out in english with a huge dose of humor. It is fun to find yourself laugh out loud while reading this book and have a co-worker ask what you are reading and you tell them "it's my diet book". How many of you can say that about the library of diet books we all seem to have. I also find myself toting the book around and rereading passages to make sure that I am doing something right or just to buoy myself up. If you are like me and tired of trying to first decipher a diet book and then telling yourself you will try again next week I guarantee that if you purchase this book it will be your last.
