Rating:  Summary: More than just a cookbook Review: In the beginning of the book she gives an excellent review of why a low carbohydrate diet is so good for you. Especially in how it relates to weight loss. She gives a great deal of information that is useful. This is more than just a cookbook.I am on the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet. It is similar to the Atkins diet only with a bit more lea-way. This book was helpful in giving me some different ideas of what to make on such a restricted diet. I would caution whoever buys this cookbook to know their diet very well. You have to be careful with some of her recipies, not all of them will fit just any low carbohydrate diet. I would say this is a good cookbook to have around. If someone is interested in weight loss, that interest gives this book an added benefit to just being another cookbook.
Rating:  Summary: Great eating, baaaad editttting! Review: I lov the recipes for there strict adherance to low-carb dieting. Each is real tastey, not to mention good. But, however, sometimes ingredients are listed but not mentioned in the assembly or preparation. (If reading the above has driven you to the brink of madness, I cannot recommend this cookbook to you. Otherwise, make the purchase and enjoy the challenge of finding and correcting the errors contained in it!)
Rating:  Summary: Easy and delicious! Review: While I haven't tested all the recipes in Lauri's book, the few that I have are absolutely wonderful! Of course, with all cooking, a little tweaking makes the recipe more you and so I recommend experimentation. The only reason for rating this book 4 instead of 5 stars is that there is at least one incomplete recipe (the Coconut Macaroons which never say to bake but do tell you to preheat the oven?) and so it might need to be revised a bit :)
Rating:  Summary: This cookbook is FANTASTIC! Review: I recently purchased this book because my husband and I have been on the Dr. Atkins diet since the first of the year. I have made Pumpkin Pie, Custard, Key Lime Delight, Orange Dream, Beef Stew, Meatloaf, Western Breakfast Squares and Mock Mashed Potatoes. I can tell you personally that every recipe I have made is fantastic! I am going to try Crab Souffle this week and one of the soup recipes. The recipes are very easy to make in no time at all which is also fantastic since I do not want to spend lots of time in the kitchen. I would highly recommend this book without a doubt. I do have the second edition of the book, and I have found numerous typographical errors and with the Coconut Macroons it does not tell you how long to cook them. I plan on making the cookies but will just have to keep on eye on them and see how long they take to bake. I plan on making the Pumpkin Pie again this week, I love my sweets, and this more than satisfies my desire.
Rating:  Summary: A few problems, but in general, a great cookbook Review: I ordered this cookbook to give me a variety of more low-carb recipes. It does give a good variety like I had hoped, but many of the dishes also seemed higher in fat than I would like. So, in many of the recipes I made substitutions. I personally didn't want to use heavy cream or sugar substitutes. I'm not using this cookbook for extreme weight loss, I'm more concerned with cutting down on carbs in my diet. If the weight loss comes, then great...but I'm more concerned with lowering my blood sugar levels due to carbohydrate intake. So, in many recipes I did substitute things I felt were also appropriate. You should probably follow the recipes exactly if you want to achieve the weight loss. My only pet peeve with this book is the recipes all vary in serving size..Some recipes are for 8, while others are for 2. I wish she had remained consistent throughout the book.
Rating:  Summary: Looks Good Review: I bought this book for a friend who is a non-cook but wanting to follow the low-carb lifestyle. The only thing I didn't care for was the amounts of artificial sweetners in her desserts. But that is easily overlooked. She is an avid Atkin's fan who expanded the diet with her own menus.
Rating:  Summary: Lauri's Low-Carb Cookbook: Rapid Weight Loss with Satisfying Review: I loved this book. I wasn't much of a cook before I started my low-carb diet, but the recipes are easy to follow and she gives a great introduction, including a shopping list of what you should have on hand. My favorites include the Salmon w/Mustard Sauce, Chocolate Mousse, Chicken Italiano, Pork Roast and too many more to list. All the vital carb counts as well as fat,calories and protein counts are included for each recipe. All in all, the best cookbook I own.
Rating:  Summary: YMMMMMMM Review: Tasty,Tasty,Tasty!! I wish I liked to cook more because some of these recipes look mouthwatering. What I have tried I really enjoyed and the helpfull hints and analysis were extremely beneficial. I'm a salad lover and Lauris ideas never failed. I can't begin to concieve of such an imagination. Bravo!!
Rating:  Summary: eggs, eggs everywhere Review: The lunch and dinner recipes were good, but the breakfast, just about all of them were eggs!! I don't care how you make them, eggs are eggs, you can put salsa in them, make an omelet, but they are still eggs. I got fed up (excuse the pun) with nothing but eggs, everyday. How about other recipes, like pancakes, using soy flour? Sometimes I had to cheat and eat ceral because of the small amount of breakfast recipes.
Rating:  Summary: Good for the Whole Family Review: I agree with all the other reviewers who have praised this book. It's by far my favorite of all the low-carb cookbooks I've tried. The thing I like most about this book is that my family also loves the recipes, and I can easily add things to the meal for those who aren't on low-carb diets. For example, I can add pasta to the Beef Stroganoff for my husband or add a serving of rice to the Chicken Curry, while I go without the extra carbs. I bought this book based solely on the rave reviews it had received. I had to wait 6 weeks to get it as they were having trouble getting it from the supplier. I am so glad I waited. When I first received it, I was a little disappointed looking through it. As strange as it may sound, everything looked too simple to be good. I was completely wrong. Everything I've made has been a huge success. I highly recommend this book.
