Rating: Summary: Not For Me! Review: While Kiss My Tiara is most definently the empowering manifesto it tries to be for some women, others will be vastly disappointed and instantly stricken my the lack of class the "Smartmouth Goddesses" posess. As a southern, upper class, Republican girl, I had a lot of trouble foregoing the social graces I have had instilled in me from the womb. So girls like me, steer clear of this book. The rest of you, have fun with it!
Rating: Summary: My New Bible Review: This book is full of great advice, great quotes and great jokes if we all lived by the majority of the advice in here women would be taking over the world a whole lot quicker... I highly recommend
Rating: Summary: Favorite Magazines! Review: These devices are almost five times faster than popular 802.11b devices, yet 100 percent compatible because they share the same 2.4 GHz radio band.
Rating: Summary: Kiss my Test Review: Were the Weiners (Dr Savage's family) not immigrants? Did they not contribute to their adopted country? Are there not multiple visions of America? At a time when America is the preeminent power of the world, unequaled in the history of the world, do not alarms of American decline ring hollow? When the Republican party controls the presidency, the supreme court and the congress, can liberals be reasonably viewed as dominating political life? Dr Savage's intemperate screed falls on the sword of reality, time and time again. Constructive debate about the republic's future must stand on a more solid foundation. Preaching to the converted is no more useful, or counterproductive, to the right than to the left.
Rating: Summary: Love it, love it! Review: When just stumbling over this book on amazon, I realized immediately that I just Had To Have It!And it was worth waiting for! I've read many how-to-live-your-life-as-a-young-woman books, but while they often tend to repeat eachother, this one is so fresh and original! The ideas (even if you don't agree with all of them) make you think about all the things that you have been told or have read before.....Although I come from a country (NL) where attitudes towards (for example) sex or making money are quite different,I still was inspired and encouraged by the things Gilman had to say about them, because pretty much all advise she gives is multi applicable. After having made an extensive research on Wendy Shalit and her Posse, and reading all their ideas that eeh...Somewhat Clashed with my feeling, this book was an oasis that I would reccomend to Anybody!I find myself reading it over and over again.
Rating: Summary: A Book With Attitude Review: This is the perfect book for the Smartmouth Goddess in your life. It packs reality with humor and attitude in a way that might shame the pants off your grandmother. This is definitely not for those girls who are afraid to embrance their inner goddess. The first thing that attracted me to this book, though, was the title. It just seemed to reflect the inner me that doesn't get to escape much. The one who enjoys the sarcasm and acts so childish, even though I'm an adult. One of the best parts is when the author decides to turn the tables on some needy guy she met on a plane. The guy got her number and called her a few times later that week, at about four or five in the morning. He would scream and whine into her answering machine about how much he needed her. Well, she decided to get him back by calling him at four in the morning and yelling into his answering machine. Honestly, it was as humorous as it was scary. There are some adult innuendos in this book, but I doubt that anyone would honestly read this book to their three year olds as a bedtime story. So, just be warned that Ms. Gilman is not afraid to push any envelopes. So, this is definitely the perfect book for the tiara-wearing smartmouth goddesses of the world.
Rating: Summary: Witty, educational, inspiring - all in one Review: A bit opinionated at times, but this book does give a some advice about how to stand up for things you believe in. I also found some of the quotes she used funny, and some were even inspiring, especially the one at the end from Eddie Murphy. She gave a witty look at women vs. men in different scenarios and I loved the pros & cons in her "Formula for Happiness." So true!! I didn't care for how she harped quite a bit on politics. Other than that, this book gave me all the three things I wanted from it - humor, inspiration, and education.
Rating: Summary: All women allowed! Review: I initially saw this book while perusing through different genres and topics. I read the sample pages and just fell in love with the author's way of description and examples. I then bought the book for my two closest friends for Christmas. They both loved it. Sad to say I bought them both the book and managed to read a copy myself before I wrapped and gave it to them. I have now decided to order my own copy because what the author says is true. Definately for the strong, independant woman who knows what she wants and how to have fun! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: No, no, and no. Review: I've never read anything before where the author has the total opposite point-of-view about everything. I thought I could handle it. I thought it might be good to read what someone else was thinking. I was wrong, wrong, wrong. Everything Gilman is against, I am for. Everything I am for, she is against. I would just cringe every time she made some slam on anything conservative, anything Christian, anything moral. I had to stop reading about halfway through; I don't know how or why I even made it that far. If someone is insulting you, you should walk away. I wish it hadn't taken me that long to figure out I should "walk away" from this book. For all fellow conservative women, I would not recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Smart-... fun Review: I have to admit, I sneaked a look at this when my wife wasn't looking. Much funnier than I expected. Saw things from the other side of the fence & it cracked me up (especially 'Reasons We Have ...'.) Quick, fun and easy to absorb. Also recommended - "No One's Even Bleeding" & "Delano"
