Rating: Summary: Body for Life Review: Bill Phillips is amazing! This is the most fun I have ever had losing weight and getting in shape.I feel so much better and and husband and children are getting involved to. It has become a "family project", with many positive benefits. THANK YOU BILL PHILLIPS!
Rating: Summary: Seeing is believing! Review: My husband and I saw Porter Freeman (who wrote the forward for the book) on a talk show. We had been trying to lower my husband's cholesterol and lose some extra pounds. I bought the book and we started the program two days later. I've lost 18 lbs. of fat and gained new energy and strength! My husband has lost 19 lbs. and lowered his cholesterol by 36 points! At age 53, my husband is in the best shape of his life and at nearly 35, I feel fantastic! I came back and bought two copies of the book for my sister and father. A wonderful book.....there IS hope!
Rating: Summary: This Book Changed My Life Review: Bill Phillips is incredibly inspiring in this book. He really motivates me and makes me think of myself in a more positive light.Previously, all the other books that I had encountered were by far so-so, and those health infomercials on television falled short on their promises. Now, I am proud to say that I have more muscle mass than before and I look great!
Rating: Summary: A Dismal Effort Review: I was dissapointed by this book. The section on weight training was ok, but the section on nutrition was poorly done. The author advocates a diet of 3 meals a day supplemented with 3 servings of "Myoplex", a nutritional supplement that is produced by the company EAS (the authour also happens to be the CEO of EAS). Each meal consists of 1 portion of carbohydrate combined with 1 portion of protein and a serving of vegetables. A "portion" is a serving roughly the size of an open palm or a closed fist. The thing I find very strange is that this is the diet the authour recommends for EVERYONE. I think it is very odd that a 5 foot, 100 pound housewife could eat the same as a 6 foot 4, 250 pound construction worker, and that they would both get good results from training. This book does not seem to take into account that different people have different nutritional and caloric needs, based on their age, sex, activity level, training goals, etc., etc., etc. I would have thought that Bill Phillips, with all his access to sophisticated research, would be aware of this. If you want to get is shape, I would suggest consulting Frank Zane's "Fabulously Fit Forever" before this book.
Rating: Summary: Bill Philips is the man! Review: This book contents a program to live a healthier life and I'm a real proof of it. Three months ago I was 135 lbs and now I'm 120lbs and still loosing weight without being starving. The workout program is awesome. I recommend strongly this book.
Rating: Summary: Great fitness book Review: As a United States Marine, I am extremely interested in fitness. I read this book to see if I could get any tips to improve my workouts and health. I learned a lot of great exercises, truthfully more than I expected. This will certainly help to add variety to my daily workout plan. I would recommend this to anyone, from the beginner(who's still a little nervous at the gym) to the workout pro.
Rating: Summary: This is the book you are looking for Review: 12 weeks ago- stretch pant and long sweaters 12 weeks later- jean cut-offs and baby t's This works, but you have to have the commitment to change. I did! And I am sure glad i found this book because now i have one little hot body
Rating: Summary: Believe or not, it works Review: I know some people will not "buy in" to Bill Phillips' "over the top" positive approach. Frankly, I was the same. But after seeing some of my friends on the program, I tried it at a time in my life where I was resigning myself to being out of shape. I completed his program for 12 weeks but really didn't follow it strictly. I did stay motivated, changed my eating style and enjoyed it. A year later the side product is that I found a lot of "good" food I like better than junk food. As to the book, it set on my shelf for a year as I was reading the magazine and the tapes which I find to be the most motivational and best information. I read it to reinspire me as I have been working hard and gotten somewhat off the program. The book did the trick. I am now excited again. The book explains in better depth the high-intensity peaks particularly in the aerobics workout. I plan on rededicating myself to this part as I could stand to lose some fat content on the lower abs. Yes, this book is written simplistic. Yes, Bill may be too rah-rah for some people. But if you will follow his examples, IT WILL WORK. I took the approach I could do anything for 3 months. At six months I was still very motivated. It's great to see your body regain it's shape at 47 when you didn't think it would again. It's great to get compliments when people see the change. This book is a lifestyle, not an exercise book. I notice many people downplayed the supplements. While not necessary, I used them and recommend them. They are the best tasting on the market and I can't believe there is any way I could have gained this much muscle without the creatine in the Betagen I used. Good luck.
Rating: Summary: This book rocks! Review: How shall I say this..... its is simple to understand, the change in dietary habits is exceptionally easy and the workouts give you a great sense of accomplishment first thing in the day. Sure, Bill Phillips pushes his product EAS,but who cares. It works and it is used by thousands if not millions of people. I do not desire to be some buff body dude, I just want to be healthy and energetic enough to hang with my great grandchildren in 60 years. REad this book if you want to transform your life, your accomplishments and your health.
