Rating: Summary: Awesome - Easy - Motivating - Exciting Review: I am a SKEPTIC of all new fads and exercise programs and don't believe in POWDERS and PILLS. I know three people who have followed this program with enormous success, so I researched it and bought the book with my friend and new BODY FOR LIFE workout partner. She and I read it in six days and got more and more excited for our possibilities. We began our new "life" on 11/1/99 and feel better and look better already. This program is simple. The book explains all the nutritional and exercise requirements STEP by STEP and if you have any doubts, questions or concerns, gives you a TOLL FREE number to call 24 hours a day to speak to someone. Bill at NO TIME requires or even urges you to take supplements - they are barely mentioned in the book. I am taking them and LOVE my results. My friend is NOT taking them and is still happy with the way she feels. Another reader mentioned Anthony Robbins - I am an avid follower of Anthony's coaching and feel that Bill is right up there as far as motivation and good simple easy to apply information. If this is not enough, the book comes with a money back guarantee. You have NOTHING to lose (except fat and ill health) and EVERYTHING to gain.
Rating: Summary: If you follow the advice, it works. It's that simple. Review: I'm a 47 year old male, 6'-1" and weighed 217 pounds when I started the program. I'm now on day 44 and I've gained strength and now weigh 195 pounds. I eat 5 or 6 times a day, lift weights 3 times a week, and do aerobic excercise for 20 minutes 3 times a week. It's a very simple, yet effective, program. I am convinced that if I can do it, anybody can.
Rating: Summary: Exercise, discipline--a new lifestyle! Review: Bill's book is excellent if you stick with the suggestions regarding physical exercise and nutrition. It's more than an exercise book and I'd say overall it shows a healthier lifestyle. Also the nutritional programs discussed in "Body for Life" are helpful and even valuable. In short, it's one of the best books to physical fitness. Regarding the aspect of mental fitness, I really can't agree, even though the book with all it's anecdotes is inspirational and motivational, and it's fun to read. For mental fitness I'd rather recommend a book that really deals with the rearrangement of priorities and our attitudes, and a book that has helped me so much, which is Dietmar Scherf's "I Love Me: Avoiding & Overcoming Depression"-- also available at Amazon.
Rating: Summary: Change your Life for the Better! Review: This book tells you how to get fit and look good for the rest of your life. The supplements are only suggested to help you eat your 6 meals a day - for those who get headaches from aspartame, take the Precision Protein by EAS and add a carb. I feel great and after a short time my body is changing dramatically. It's amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who is not happy with their appearance and would like to boost their self-esteem. Also great for PMS!!!
Rating: Summary: I didn't like it at all Review: I'm not really anti Bill Phillips like some other reviewers and I don't know his history. I bought this book, followed the technique to a key and felt worse after. I have a feeling it was the supplements because I never had such headaches just from working out, and I've been working out for years. Somethings I did find annoying like the "late night infomercial" tone through most of the book and each page had the e-commerce website on it six times. I will give credit to Mr. Phillips ability to motivate people but I'm not convinced Anthony Robbins won't do a better job for you.
Rating: Summary: Not An Effective Program Review: This is the most expensive book I've ever bought- it cost me over two months of my life! I followed the program faithfully with great enthusiasm and optimism, only to see precious little change over nine weeks' time. I think it is probably an appropriate plan for relatively lean people who want better muscle definition, but it is not effective for weight loss.
Rating: Summary: This book has NOTHING to do with being healthy!! Review: If you want to get healthy, this is not the book for you. If you want to fill your body with chemicals -- then this is the program you've been waiting for! This book was a waste of money and the program is a waste of time. I did not feel healthy on this program at all. I had headaches from all the chemicals that I had to ingest using EAS supplements. Yes, I lost fat and gained muscle -- but it is done in an unnatural way. I now choose to eat right and exercise regularly in a natural way that will last for life. This is just a fad.......and a way for Bill Philips to make millions!!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: This book "Body-for-LIFE" is the best book I have read yet on excerise and nutrition. It goes into detail on very thing, he explains everything in the book so good. At first when I picked it up I thought it was going to be one of those books that you cant understand anything in it, but as I started reading I felt moved and I couldnt put the book down. This book is a 5-star in my eyes. I will also be starting the 12-week Program next year. I am so excited. I hope that everyone gets a chance to read this book. I promise you will learn something in it that you didnt know. For all those who are going to do the 12-week Program GOODLUCK, and for those who have already done it CONGRADULATIONS!
Rating: Summary: Regarding the statement made by the trainer in Quebec, Canad Review: When reading the review of the personal trainer who claims that yogurt is a protien, please investigate that statement before believing it. True, yogurt is a dairy product so you would think that, just like cottage cheese, that it is a protien. But, because of the way it is made, it is actually a carbohydrate. As for the book, it is very realistic and even allows for a "free day" where you can eat whatever you want. And I do mean anything. That helps keep you motivated because you don't have to feel left out when you and your friends go out on the weekend and they are eating pizza and beer in front of you. You can dig right in with them. Good luck and I wish you lots of success!
Rating: Summary: proper and informational Review: This book is so refreshing for me.Months ago a personal trainor in a local health club gave me remarkably similar information. After five weeks and three dress sizes I was in better shape then when in High School. My husband and I suffered a divorce and I had a cut back at my job. Not being able to pay my trainer three times a week I became lazy again. After buying "Body for Life" I am back on track and helping my 73 year old mother do the same. Thank you Bill Phillips for keeping me going and PT Chad Brady for starting me.
