Summary: it works, in SOOOOO many ways, but beware!
Review: Suzanne's books are written in an easy-going personal style with lots of anecdotes about her family life and career to support the theories of food combining. You will not find any graphs, charts, diagrams, or otherwise "scientific" information to back up the claims here--just true life success stories from obese people who have reclaimed their lives and health after starting on this way of eating.

I have been on this way of eating for 4 months and everyone keeps asking me if I've done something with my hair, skin, weight, etc., because every aspect of me has improved since I started this way of eating. Keep the compliments coming!

CRAVINGS:
YES, you will get them the first week as your body adjusts to eliminating caffeine, sugars, chemicals, starches, etc. After 1-2 weeks, the headaches subside as your body relearns to accept and metabolize REAL food. Like a drug junkie, the initial detox period is the most difficult. Being a sugar junkie is REAL and not imagined.

WEIGHT LOSS:
Not everyone loses weight at the same rate. It took Suzanne 2 MONTHS to see results on this way of eating. I saw results in 4 days--while I was immobilized by a back injury (no excercise here). And if you exercise regularly, don't necessarily expect to lose weight--expect to lose INCHES! Your goal shouldn't be a number on the scale, but rather a body fat index. If you lose fat inches all around but gain muscle, who cares how much you weigh?

DIFFICULTY:
If you're used to preparing all your meals from a box (pasta, hamburger helper, instant potatoes, ortega, rice-a-roni, etc.) you will find this way of eating VERY challenging at first. You will learn how to prepare meals using WHOLE food ingredients, rather than processed foods full of chemicals. Real food can take lots of time to prepare--but doesn't have to: tonight I cooked gourmet herb omelettes, filled with veggies and cheese, for me and my friend in 10 minutes. CONFUSION:
Some people complain about being confused on this way of eating because it involves combining food groups, eating at different intervals, etc. Any new diet has a learning curve that you must adjust to. So expect to be a bit confused at first. The book has a helpful "cheat sheet" to guide you in food choices and timelines. You can carry this with you in the supermarket or restaurants (YES, you can eat at McDonalds and Wendy's on this way of eating!!).

BEST OF ALL: The way of life described in this book really works! I have never felt better, I sleep better, am steadily losing weight, love all the fabulous food I eat, never feel hungry or deprived, can eat as much as I want, and have stopped craving all the starchy and sugary foods that used to comprise my diet.

Summary: Love This Book!
Review: I can not say enough about this book. It has changed the way I think I about food and eating. Suzanne can really cook! All of the recipes are fantastic! I lost 9 pounds in the first 3 weeks and haven't gained back an ounce. The plan is so easy to follow. If you are considering trying this diet - don't hesitate.

Summary: Finally -- a way to eat, eat, eat
Review: I have never been skinny. Raised on carbs and more carbs, I always had bread and dessert at every meal. Previous diet attempts not only failed; they caused me to gain weight. I have a set metabolism, so as long as I don't go hog wild eating or starve myself, I can maintain my weight. But I wanted to lose 10-20 pounds. The first few days I tried cutting out all those refined carbs and sugar, I noticed I lost weight, all without even really trying. So I decided to commit to the program. It really works, and you can eat, eat, eat! My problem was my set metabolism kicked in after I lost 10 pounds, but I tricked it by going to Level II of the program and then returning to Level I. Now I've lost about 15 pounds, while eating steak, cream, and cheese. And if you miss your favorite foods, you can still have them now and then, as long as you return to Level I. I'm a big peanutbutter-and-jelly fiend, so I have sandwiches on wheat bread made of peanutbutter and jelly with no added sugar. I only do this in moderation, though. I love this. I never have to count any calories like people do on Weight Watchers. I eat all the time, whenever I want, as much as I want.

Summary: help with cheesecake
Review: I tried making the cheesecake recipe. The texture and look of the cheesecake is beautiful. The only thing was the taste was sour. I noticed in the dessert book it has an extra package of cream cheese. It this the solution and what is the complete recipe for three packages of cream cheese. Are the other proportions the same. I saw this while browsing the dessert cookbook ( i am just beginnigng the program and am not yet ready to add desserts but i'd like to try the cheesecake) thank you

Summary: Somercizing has changed my life!
Review: I can't recommend Ms. Somers' book enough. After years of yo-yo dieting, crash dieting and fad dieting, I reached my heaviest weight ever about a year ago. A friend of mine lent me this book and it has changed my life. I've shed the extra weight and feel fantastic. My stress level has decreased and my energy level has increased. I'm happier that I've been in a long time. SOMERCIZING REALLY WORKS!

Summary: Lost Weight Fast!
Review: With some diffuculty i managed to loose weight on this diet quickly! Even though i sorta just started i already lost a few pounds in a few day's! It's like u lose a pound every two days! it'z amazing. I ate foods i liked and still lost a bundle. My only problem is is that every now and then i have cravings for cheesecake with the fruit and crustm, but that would be a level 2 dessert then. I also a big fan of Italian foods and can't stop thinking about pasta's and pizza's and stuff. I guess i have to wait a few more weeks till i reach my preferd weight. i hope that won't be long!

Summary: Excellent recipes
Review: Fun to read, with lots of wonderful recipes (if you like Mediterranean cooking). I was a bit skeptical about the dogma of not mixing carbs with protes, but it does make a huge difference in how you feel and how the weight falls off. Try it, I'm sure you'll like it!

Summary: This works but.....
Review: Well, I bought and it does work!! I lost about 10 pounds within a month. The only problem is that this is not a diet. It is a lifestyle. You have to continue to eat like this!! No straying. That's just too much work for me. (What do you mean I have to wait two hours to eat fruit after eating! and I can't ever again eat carrots or corn)Once you do stray, the pounds creep back on. Instead, I joined Weight Watchers where you can eat whatever you want! I've been on the program for 6 weeks and I've lost 13 pounds. This is an easy plan that I can follow without a problem.

Summary: These books are great for diet cheaters.......
Review: Following Suzannes eating plan seems difficult at first but once you get the hang of it.....it's a breeze and the weight drops off fast. I've lost 35 pounds in 3 weeks without ever being hungry, feeling deprived or cheating.

Summary: Not as good as the 2nd and 3rd books
Review: This is the first of the three "Somersize" books. It explains the program in the most detail, but honestly its a very boring read and the recipes are not practicle. I found the second book "Get Skinny on Fabulous Food" to be much more interesting and the recipes are things that I actual make (the Chinese Chicken Salad is excellent). The second book also explains the basics of the plan, but in a more condensed form so you don't have to read a bunch of in depth explanation like you do in "Eat Great, Lose Weight". If you haven't read any of the books and are looking for the *best* of the three then I wouldn't recommend this one. Go with "Get Skinny" or the newer "Eat, Cheat and Melt the fat away".
