Rating: Summary: Can't Eat This Way The Rest Of My Life Review: I got very tired of bacon and eggs for breakfast. For one thing, I never ate bacon before so why would I eat it on a diet. This eating plan does not seem to be a plan for changing the way you eat. It only helps to get weight off fast. I lost 5 pounds in about 4 days.I can't imagine eating this way for the rest of my life though. I do have to say that I did feel better, I lost that tiredness that I'm sure all Carb addicts know about. You know the one where you start to yawn during lunch. Anyway, I'm happy for anyone that this diet helps but I don't think it is for me because I am trying to change the way I eat to a healthier way.
Rating: Summary: FINALLY NO MORE CRAVINGS! Review: This program has finally helped me to get rid of my constant cravings. I work in a bulk food store so any craving I ever had could be easily satisfied. I have been on the program for 8 days and so far I have not had to struggle with any cravings. If there is something that I want bad enough I buy some and save it as a part of my reward meal. So far I have lost 4 pounds. I would recommend this book to anyone who struggles with constant cravings.
Rating: Summary: Questionable in many ways. Review: Hmm... Look how many copies of the Atkins diet are being sold. We could get in on that too! Lets write a book that is almost like his and modify it so that people on their third meal can eat whatever they want. Then its sure to sell. Look people, here are the problems. The authors have contradicted what they have said on TV with what is in their book. There is a 2nd printing of the book which changes some of the information from the first printing. Also I question their theories on insulin production as far as how much the body produces and when it produces it. Also, three meals a day, where two can have no fiber in them is not healthy. I have tried this and the Atkins diet, they both made me feel light-headed and nutrient depleted. People have complained about intestinal problems from these diets. Not to mention that without carbohydrates your brain cannot function effectively. Stick with a low-glycemic lowfat diet with a balance of protien and carbos. If you want to loose weight, stay away from alcohol and refined sugars and starches. Excercise and peace of mind are essential. The long term effects of these diets are not known, but if you dont keep your fiber intake up you are asking for trouble.
Rating: Summary: I've tried them all Review: I've never been severely overweight and never more than 7-10 pounds but I have tried every diet out there--Zone, SugarBusters, Fit for Life, Atkins... AND I work out 7 days a week.I was on the Zone for about 6 months and lost a ton of weight at first and then eventually it all piled back on (without changing a thing) and I switched to this diet. After only two weeks I am even two pounds less than my "goal weight" and I did it SO EASILY. I love the "reward meal." I tested as having "light" carbohydrate addiction but it has still worked for me. More energy too! I feel great! Even if I don't lose another pound I will never give up this way of eating.
Rating: Summary: This book has changed my life! Review: I have been fat for most of my life and tried just about every diet out there. I thought there was something wrong with me. I just could not stop eating junk food, even when I wasn't hungry! After taking the test to see how I would rank as a carb addict and found out how easy it was to follow the program I was amazed. I started the program on October 23rd and as of today (February 21st) I have lost 43 pounds and don't feel like I have deprived myself of anything. As a matter of fact there are others in my office on this program. One has lost 31 pounds, another 15. We are really on a roll. I would recommend this book (program) to anyone who has had trouble with their weight and is ready to make a change in their life style.
Rating: Summary: ok for a while but not for life! Review: This diet is ok but it could have been better . If you stick to a lean protein and replace the saturated fat with low glycemic carbs , you might live longer though . Also , if you don't do weight training , you just go from a big pear/apple to a little pear/apple . This book has its merits but the best is Body For Life by Bill Philips ; someone who definatly talks the talk and walks the walk !
Rating: Summary: Finally An Answer To My Dieting Nightmare Review: Before I even took the test in this book I knew I was a carbohydrate addict. I have been following this eating plan for four weeks now and have lost 9 pounds so far. I find it a very easy plan to follow, except for breakfast. If you don't have time to make the recipe in the book, then you end up eating alot of eggs. So take the time to make some of the breakfast things on the weekend to have for the week ahead.
Rating: Summary: The Carbohydrates Addict's Diet Review: 02/03/00 The first week was real tough, I really missed the sugar & cream in my coffee and the scone for breakfast. After the 2nd week I now enjoy black coffee, eggs and ham for breakfast. I have salad and sliced meat for lunch. Every week I eat smaller portions of my reward meal. I am now on week 5, I do not consider this a diet, but a different way to eat for the rest of my life. Have lost 15lbs so far, Have 25 more to go. My wife has lost 8lbs.
Rating: Summary: ASTONISHINGLY SUCCESSFUL DIET PLAN! Review: The Heller plan is truly sensational in that it REALLY works! The increased energy level I've experienced within the last 3 months is phenomenal; since I traded carbs for veggies and fruit I've lost the equivalent of 33 lbs! (I'm now at a comfortable 170 (which is actually in correct proportion to my 6 foot frame). Highly Recommended to all who seek a healthful, ENERGIZING way to lose weight which REALLY works!
Rating: Summary: Carbohydrate Attict's Diets Review: I just completed my first week on the diet with NO CHEATING. The reason I have will power is my rewad meal is never more than 23 hours away. I find that even at this "no holds barred" meal I can't eat as much as I used to. Has my stomach shrunk? Eating is a lower priority in my life now. Only drawback--finding variety for brekfast. Next week I will try some of the soy flour recipes.
