Rating: Summary: gets the root of it all Review: I have read several books on fibroids, and this one is the only one that goes into considerable depth about the holistic reasons - not just the medical reasons - as to why fibroids start, exist and grow. Dr Christianne Northop's "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom" has an excellent section on fibroids as well, but it is only a short section in her book. Warshowsky takes the same holistic approach as she does, but of course his book goes into everything in much greater detail. He gives many examples of real patients he's treated with success but at the same time is realistic about the amount of work it involves, and the no-promises success quota. What I like so much about this book are two things: 1) he thoroughly covers the emotional aspect of fibroids, which traditionally western doctors don't even factor in, and 2) he lays out a very specific, detailed program to follow - all natural - if you are really serious about finding hormonal balance and achieving optimal health. And, as a hosilitic but traditionally western-trained MD, he throughly explains the (theoretical) medical reasons for fibroids (no one seems to know for sure yet), what they are physically, treatment options, and what kind of symptoms they can cause and WHY. All the "whys" I could ask were answered very thoroughly in this book. All the books I have read on fibroids have been good - and there aren't many - but this one was the most comprehensive in terms of gaining scientific, emotional and spiritual insight - and a plan to follow so you can take control. It was even well written to boot. After reading this book, instead of feeling like a victim, I viewed my fibroids as a challenge to grow personally instead. (And if your western doctor ever told you fibroids never shrink, read this book!)
Rating: Summary: One more suggestion Review: I haven't read this book, so maybe amazon will take this off, but I wanted women to know that I had a horribly painful fibriod and I completely cured it and the pain with homeopathy. Try sabine. It was like a miracle.
Rating: Summary: Best Info. for Taking Action Review: This book is the best, most informative book I've read on my newly discovered condition (and believe me I have read a lot). It gives very practical information especially with regard to diet. It was a little bit lacking in the last chapter "Putting Your Own Healing Program Together," as well as the parts about exercise and meditation. But for diet alone, this book is well worth it and you'll know what to do on your own as well as with the help of a practitioner.
Rating: Summary: Excellent & balanced resource Review: This is a really great guide to dealing with fibroids and it gives you a wide variety of options in dealing with this condition. I agree that it is very balanced between scientific and holistic methods of healing. However, I do think you need to read this book AND then go to a healing practitioner (MD, nurse practioner or alternative practitioner) who has experience in dealing holistically with fibroids to guide you in what is best for you. But this book is a wonderful educational resource and guide and I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: A Doctor's Guide to a Natural Cure Review: Without doubt this is the best book ever written about Fibroids. It tells you in detail how this extremely dangerous and painful situation start and grow in your body. It even has information on special diets for fibroid patients. You read this book carefully and all your questions will be answered.
Since I have been on this diet, all the cravings for junk food have gone. I was someone who lived for sugar and now I do not want any of it. I use to crave coffee in the morning as well but realized I didn't want that wired up feeling & acid stomach. I switched over to a caffeine-free coffee substitute made from soyabeans I found on the net at www.s oycoffee.com. It so easy for someone to tell you to eat less, but if you are craving bad foods, eventually you will fail. In the first five days I was on this diet all the craving ceased and I was already 8 lbs down. If you were like me and cannot wait for your next slice of cake and at the same time really want to change your lifestyle, Try this.
