Summary: Crappy book, big words, but all common sense
Review: I am usually pretty trustful of amazon.com review system. I usually buy books that are widely read and highly reviewed by the online customers. However, this book feel short of my expectations. Its insipid, dull and very boring. Basically, some wise psychologist wrote a book using alot of BIG WORDS and HUGE CONCEPTS. Entire book can be reduced into a few sentences. Its very boring, very trite and nothing amazing. Nothing you dont already know and nothing you really should know. Book is a WASTE of money, WASTE of time, WASTE of paper. Im sorry, i bought 2-3 other relationship book sthat rocked such as How to Make Anyone fall in love with you and how to attract anyone, anyplace and body language book. I read alot of other books in this topic and this book just pure stink. DO NOT BUY IT! DO NOT EVEN HESITATE TO NOT BUYING IT! Just leave this book out. This book has failed all my expectation

Summary: A gentle "in your face" kind of truth...
Review: I bought this book in the midst of confusion as to wether I was going to get married or break off a relationship with a particular person. I am a psychologist and a lover, and an avid reader of self-help and vampire books

A long time ago a friend of mine said to me "BE TRUE TO YOURSELF". Mr. Richo does just that. Feelings of validity and recognition of personal pain flow from this book as you read it and it becomes part of you. This book helped me to make so many decisions and also helped me to gain a lot more self-esteem by making me realize what was happening right in front of my eyes.

I tabbed, underlined, highlighted and starred so many pages, I had friends read shapters to help them with their relationships, and it is amazing the kind of feedback this book gets. Do yourself a favor and check this one out. Pick the parts that you need to read first, and you will gain all that you know withought ever having to read through an introduction or a foward first. The table of contents is thorough and all of your issues are right in front of you. An amazing tool, a great gift, a life-long partner, a second bible.

Summary: A "MUST READ" For Every Person!
Review: I highly recommend this book to every person - regardless of age, sex, or relationship status. This is a book that you will read, underline and write in, turn down corners, and use - in your OWN DAILY LIFE. I have certainly done all of this. In addition, I have purchased books for all my children and several friends. This book is a keeper!

David Richo is an author whose writing clarifies exactly what being a "grown up" consists of. He gives specific examples which help us to see ourselves and others more clearly and kindly. We can learn to better appreciate and accept our self and others, give and ask for affection, attend to others more fully and ask for their attention in a way that they can hear us, and live according to our deepest desires while allowing others to do the same. This is far more than a "how to" book, however.

This book gives us the tools to see ourselves as we really are, as well as how others see us. We receive specific recommendations for making the changes we want in ourselves, which fosters change in all of our relationships.

Mostly, this is a book of uplifting and enlightening and very specific information which guides us gently in our quest to live life to the fullest. Living the best possible life in the practical and spiritual sense shown in Richo's writings has the potential to change the world - one person at a time.

Summary: An Inspiration!
Review: I highly recommend this book. If you are fed up with the unenlightened drone of typical relationship books, then this is the book for you. Topics such as "How to keep your Man/Woman", "The Rules for Dating", "What women/men are really saying" etc will not be found among these easy to read pages. It does not boast a fool proof "12 step method" to becoming an adult in relationships but instead inspires one to take their own personalized steps. Wrapped in its inspiring words I have discovered what love and relationships truly mean for me, and it has become a great resource for becoming a better partner by becoming a more enlightened and peaceful person. Growth of the individual is at the core of this book and I have taken to heart what the author has made available through his well-articulated ideas. I will continue to try to make this mindful philosophy a practicing part of my life.

Summary: Absolutely Insightful!!!
Review: I originally sought books to help me get over a man in my life that is still IN my life, but not committed to me. We are the classic "friends with benefits" only he's benefiting more than I am...much more. This book has reinforced in a HUGE way what I already knew but chose to ignore. It teaches us how change IS scary...even if it's healthy change. It's scary because it's what we become to know and feel comfortable with after awhile. It reaches deep into the psyche and shows why we stay in relationships that aren't so healthy. It connects us to our childhood, but not in a crutching sort of manner like some readings which "blame" our current choices all on childhood incidences, but rather shows us why we possibly make some of the decisions that we do.

You won't be disappointed in this book. I had to force myself to put it down and sleep. I read it in two days. I underlined SO many sections that applied to me. This book is a lifetime keeper!!! Get one for you or someone close to you if you feel they need to make some changes in the way they choose relationships in their lives. You (or them) will be happy you did!!!

One warning...It's very truthful. Sometimes when you hear something you dont like, it can have a profound effect. I cried reading this book several times because it talked about my life...my thought processes and my feelings when choosing and staying with a partner.

Summary: This was the most important book I've ever read - really
Review: If you believe that the unexamined life is not worth living, you must read this book. Dr. Richo provides spiritual and psychological enlightenment in a manner that can immediately be applied to one's own life. It truly changed my life and I've given a copy to all my friends.

Summary: Extremely Inspiring!
Review: This book is by far the best self help book for relationship building i have read to date. it explained that the problems i was having were inside of me and i simply needed a better perspective. I highly recommend this book as a great source of food for thought and soul searching. I'd like to also recommend (as the author does) that if you are having serious stress or anxiety in your relationship then therapy is the best course of action. I read this while in therapy and the two went together very well. The problem with self-help books is that they are written in general terms and typically, our problems are very specific to our own past experiences and how we view them from the present. Anyway, my recommendation is to buy this book and find a good psychologist who specializes in relationship counseling. I also believe now that most of the problems couples have are not about conflicts between them but the issues each has to address within as an individual. i resolved my personal issues and it's amazing, my relationship with my girlfriend improved 1,000 percent.

Summary: Written with care and love.
Review: This book is obviously written with a lot of care and love. I am still fairly young but have been in various relationships and I have noticed that I repeat similar patterns with my partners and they have ruined my relationships. This book helped me realize that what I thought was love was not really love. It was just personal gratification. Since reading this book I really have a better understanding of what a true loving relationship is. I also like the book "The ever-transcending spirit" by Toru Sato. It is also an excellent book that helped me understand the true meaning of love, not just romantic love but love in a more general sense. Anyways I really liked these books and I highly recommend them to anyone interested in making their relationships better and becoming a happier person.
