Summary: Great Gift
Review: Believe it or not I gave this book as a baby shower gift. It was a huge hit. My neighbors are having their first child and, having a baby myself, I thought this would be a great idea for them to remember that they are a couple, not just mommy and daddy. They loved it!

Summary: Grrreat book, but requires some effort and expense
Review: I got this book for my husband as a Valentine's Day present, not because I thought our romance needed work, but because I thought it would be fun and introduce us to some new ideas. It *has* been a lot of fun, but after the first couple of weeks we switched to doing the romances every other week because 1) even the "inexpensive" ones were turning out more expensive than we thought they would be, and 2) pulling an envelope on Sunday and performing the romance by Saturday just wasn't enough time in a lot of cases! So now we switch off - I'll do one one week, and he'll do one the next week, and we pull our envelopes two weeks in advance to give us plenty of time to plan.

Most of the romances have been LOTS of fun, and very romantic, but so far the "kiss of the week"s have been sortof dumb, and the "passion coupon"s just haven't been manageable.

Don't let those things stop you from buying the book, though! The ideas for the romances are FANTASTIC, even if they frequently need a little (or a lot) of adapting to make them fit in your lifestyle - they at least give you a starting point to work with!

*DO* pay attention to the expense, though. So far we've wound up paying at least $10 - $25 MORE for each romance than she predicts. If you're on a tight budget, this might just make you even more stressed. If you're on a budget, I still recommend buying the book, and then pulling ALL of the envelopes in advance so you get a reasonable idea of what they cost, and maybe some ideas for reducing the cost.

Summary: Great but sometimes corny
Review: I think that if you put your heart and soul into anythning that can help you with your romance its gonna work out. Some of the ideas are great , some are more comlicated and some are a bit too corny for me. But this is a great place to get ideas. My husband and I did it on a weekly basis, I would do one week and he would do one week and we would give ourselves all that week to plan it. We eventually lost interest but that wasn't the books fault we are just not that romantic. I think you should get the book and try it, it does have great ideas. If you are the type of person that just doesnt have an ounce of romance in you then it probably won't work because they can be somewhat elaborate, or you can just skip that page and try another one. I cheated that way alot!

Summary: Stereotypical and cliche.
Review: If you get your idea of romance from movies and Harlequin novels, this is the book for you. My wife bought it for us and we were quickly disappointed. The book assumes an awful lot about men and women. First, it assumes the woman doesn't work full-time. My wife was not too happy about that assumption. Even worse, though, it assumes that romance is something that can be the same for everyone: conventional, prepackaged and cloned from couple to couple. The whole concept of the book is flawed. In reality, romance is spontaneous and unique to each couple. It can't come from the pages of a book written by a stranger. Our copy of this book (because of the tearaway pages) is now in the recycle bin.

Summary: A great book for romantics, or for those seeking to rekindle
Review: Laura Corn's book is simply wonderful. The idea is so simple, yet it works very well. The book is filled with 101 ideas for romantic evenings. 50 are for him, 50 for her (with the last one to be done together). The seductions are sealed shut, so you can't see what's inside them. All you know before opening it is the title, approximately what it will cost you, whether food or travel (by car) is required, and what season (if any) it is appropriate for.

Each week one or both of you take one and work on pulling off this romantic evening. A lot of the fun comes from knowing how much your partner will enjoy all the effort you put into the evening.

The ideas inside are very good. Some of them are simple and require little planning. Others are more elaborate. But all are fun to do. I won't spoil it for you by telling you what any of them are, but, suffice to say, they are simply great.

It is true that there may be one or two that do not fit your personal situation. However, the plans are usually broad enough that with a little thought and some modification, you can usually make it work.

One caveat: Laura usually describes on the cover of each seduction how much it is going to cost. In reality, you should probably count on spending a bit more than she plans; especially if you make your own customizations to the plans she provides.

My wife and I have given this book to others we know and would recommend it to anyone who wants to rekindle those flames of romance; or to anyone who is simply a romantic at heart.

Summary: Got It Together From Two Books
Review: My marriage definitely needed a jump-start, so I invested in a ton of self-help books to learn improvements and insight. After weeding through the lot, two books in particular dared to make a true difference in my marriage. Practicing the tips from 101 Nights of Great Romance not only rekindled our passion, it helped us to send it through the roof. Still, we learned that passion without marital depth is one-dimensional and short lived. It's lust, not neccesarily love. And that's where Loving Vows: Inspiring Promises For Building and Renewing Your Marriage saved the day...and our marriage. Loving Vows invited us to revisit our wedding vows (and that conversation turned out a lot more romantic than either of us supected) then it showed us how to keep each one of our vows over many long years of marriage--to my surprise, it hit on even my personalized wedding promises. Both books are extremely insightful and original. We may have paid a lot of money to successfully pull off the ideas from 101 Nights, but it was worth every penny because of the renewed love we gained from practicing the advice from Loving Vows. Now we share lust and love and hail these two books whenever and wherever we can. Get them both for a totally renenwed marital experience.

Summary: 101 Wet Blankets...
Review: No, it's not a page from the book...

First, don't look for this book in the library--you won't find it, because you have to *tear out* the page in order to "do it." There are also coupons to cut out. The pages are sealed, too. Each page is a scenario for either the woman or the man to create in order to show their partner just how much they understand about romance.

I got 101 Nights of Romance about 3 years ago because I wasn't quite ready for 101 Nights of Grrreat Sex. Like many others, I was seeking a shot in the arm for my marriage. I thought I could start with something like romance, but be warned: the pages that the woman does for her man are about sex, because that's what guys see as romantic. The guy's pages aren't about sex, but guys get the idea that if they just follow the instructions, there'll be some noogie at the end.

The book was disastrous. From talking to many women who have this book or "...Sex", it's the *wives* who do most of the pages and then the men make some attempt at doing one or maybe two or NONE in the case of my husband.

I did about 4 pages before I realized that there was no way my husband was ever going to reciprocate. There was always an excuse why he couldn't do his page: time, props, whatever. It really was a sore spot. I brought it up in counseling. I mean, here I am, trying to liven things up a bit, trying to give him something to do, and he rejects it. Which the counselor said
was like rejecting me. Yeah, that's about how it felt. I can't even remember what he told her about it. That I just showed up with this book, and it so intimidated him. You know, I still get yucky feelings just writing about this. I mean, it's not like he ever said, "Gee, Hon, don't do your pages since I'm too intimidated to do mine." He loved my pages. And I looked at some of his pages. One was to be my waiter--cook a nice dinner or bring one home, and then set the table and wait on me. Now how hard is that?

So I don't know what my message is here. Maybe just don't show up with the book--discuss it first. Have clear expectations. Don't expect to teach an old dog new tricks. They just like to watch the performance.

Summary: 101 Wet Blankets...
Review: This book is a brilliant idea. My husband and I were looking for some ideas out of the ordinary to show our appreciation for one another. "101" is perfect. I love the fact that the ideas are separate for the male and female and the best part is they are sealed. It's Grrrrreat! I recommend it highly!

Summary: a little spice in your life
Review: This book is great fun! It takes you out of your ho-hum romantic routines. To take advantage of Laura Corn's suggestions may requires a little guts occasionally, but the results are always worth it. I keep ripping out the pages and work on different "plans" until I have one ready to go. Some of the scenerios for you and your partner are better if the kids are able to be at grandma's for the night, but not living near family, we still manage to modify the scenes with great success. This book is terrific for a laugh between you and your significant other, but best of all it adds adventure and spice back into a "normal" life. I just bought 101 Quickies. Get this book and start ripping out the pages. There is truely as much fun in the planning of an evening as there is in the evening itself!
