Rating: Summary: I Don't Know, I Can Stand Quite a Lot Review: "The popular belief is that inspiration 'strikes' us, like a lightening bolt from the sky. Actually, it's the other way around. In reality, we strike inspiration much the way miners strike gold. By ceaselessly working, reworking and reworking the old territory, sooner or later we'll run into a little nugget of something wonderful, something better. The more we dig, the more we'll find, until- if we're very lucky and very persistent- we hit the mother lode." -Suzanne Falter-Barnes Sleepy and cranky after a long day, I decided to read a few pages of a book I'd brought home from the library to help me drop off to sleep. Three hours later, I was still reading, barely able to see the pages through the tears running down my face. Blowing past all those so called "motivation" books, "How Much Joy Can You Stand?" dares to grab you, shake you by the shoulders and give you a well deserved shove toward living your dream. Accepting no excuses, writer Suzanne Falter-Barns insists it is each person's cosmic duty to channel their unique perspective into creating something wonderful. With chapters such as "How to Get the Fire in Your Belly", "Where to Look for Inspiration" and "How to Pray and Work at The Same Time" she is your own personal cheer section, pulling no punches and with you every step of the way. Whether you long to write the next great American novel or simply dream of opening your own laundry business, this electrifying book is a ladder for reaching the stars
Rating: Summary: "...If you thought the LAST ONE was good..." Review: ...you'll love this new, expanded 'joytrip' offered by Suzanne. I incorporated one idea and an exercise from her first book in my workshops and the response was enthusiastic. I've picked up at least three new notions from this version, as well. If you're looking for ways to brighten up your life, try the Joy route. It's easy reading and there are positive, productive 'try this' exercises at the end of every chapter. I loved it - again!
Rating: Summary: My dreams are coming true! Review: How Much Joy Can You Stand? (revised edition). Well, Suzanne Falter-Barns did it again. She has brought together what it takes to really achieve your dreams and get past those fears. Through her new edition of "Joy", she has taken the essence of making your dreams come true to another level. I truly enjoyed this updated version. The "try this" is always such a great help to keep you focused and break through those barriers we create for ourselves...keeping us that much further away from achieving our goal. I must tell you I so relate to the "mushroom" story in this book. I recently self-published my own book "Your Guide to Operating a Computer-Based Business at Little or No Cost!" and took it to a printer to have them printed. They made a few mistakes and to make a long story short, I left them again and returned to more mistakes. Well, I ended up getting that batch of books corrected and at no charge. I so believe those are the kinds of things that happen when you are wondering...now where are the finances coming from so I may get my dream off the ground. I am so sure it is God making a way for me to achieve my dream. Thanks again Suzanne for writing such a wonderful book.

Rating: Summary: Living your dreams Review: Speaking from my own point of view when trying to pursuing my dream, I have faced the fear of failure. I think we all have in some way, more or less. We need encouragement to go on, and if we don't get it, we need courage to do it all on our own. To me, failure is wisdom and something we shouldn't be afraid of. What's important is that we must never give up. The dream is out there and it's reachable if you don't give up. In some way you'll always be able to achieve it. Author, Suzanne Falter-Barns is in her book 'How Much Joy Can You Stand?' giving us inspiration and encouragement to never giving up on your dream. The book is based on other peoples stories as well as on Suzanne Falter-Barns own experiences. In the book are exercises to go forth and back whenever a situation occurs. Take the advices from others and start pursuing your dream today. When you're 70 years old, it might be too late and you'll be annoyed over what you didn't do. Everything is up to you - get started!
Rating: Summary: A little book that packs a wallop! Review: This book may look small, but it packs a wallop for everyone who's having trouble starting - whether it be starting "the great American novel", a painting, new business or screenplay. Suzanne Falter-Barnes also shows us how "failures" actually help us in the creative process, and be positive experiences along our path. It's not necessarily a matter of having talent, it's all about having the passion to follow our dreams.
Rating: Summary: The magic book...... Review: This book should should be reccommended to everyone who has ever had a dream. Suzanne Falter Barnes touches on every aspect of the creative spirit in all of us. Her accuracy was eerie; as if she were inside my head writing about everything I'd feared, felt, and still aspire to be.... A quick read, inspiring and fun. I hope to someday follow in her footsteps and touch others as she did to me..
Rating: Summary: joy grows in brooklyn Review: This book was a wonderful pleasure to read. Reading it helped me to realize I really can have what I dream. The book pointed out reasons I put off trying to fulfill my dreams and how I can over come them. If you have a dream that you are having trouble making come to life, buy "How Much Joy Can You Stand" and start living the life you were meant to live.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: This is 171 pages of trite, rehashed touchy-feely "dream your dream and you can live it" old news -- and they're really small pages. If you cut out all the "stories" of people told by the author, you'd have barely enough for a long magazine article. I don't so much mind the money -- but it was a total waste of my time. Do yourself a favor, skip this book and go straight to "Finding Your Own North Star" by Martha Beck -- that's a book that will really give you an insight into joy. It's not about how much you can stand if you can't find it in the first place!
Rating: Summary: Read it and then carry it with you! Review: This is truly a magical book. Open it anywhere and start reading, and it'll refill your creative tank in a hurry. I always keep a book in my purse for moments when I can read, and this is the perfect book to read and re-read. If you're an artist, stuck or not, you'll love this book. Really. Any two pages convey more richness and enthusiasm for creative living than most ten self-help books put together!
