Rating: Summary: Not Good Enough Review: I purchased this book after the birth of my second child to keep the hair I grew during my pregnancy. It was way too general. I need product reccomendations that are specific. Also, since I have purchased this book (almost 3 years ago) I have read Cathy Howse Ultra Black Hair Growth system, reccomendations and products. They have produced much better results ( esp. air-drying then curling, getting rid of protein in moisturizer, deep conditioning and moisturizing often often...). Don't get me wrong as there is some useful info. such as reduce heat on the hair which is good and you will get good results as far as your hair looking good. But I not only want good looking hair. I also want healthier, longer, growing hair and this was not enough information. Now, I am not wasting my money trying every product that comes out. Healthy hair "tips" is an fitting title. But if you need more try Cathy's book.
Rating: Summary: A must have!! Review: I highly recommend this book as a reference for black women who seriously want HEALTHY hair. There's a lot of valuable information in this book. I wish this book was around years ago - if only I'd known then what I know now... My hair would be in a lot better condition. After a year of searching for a stylist, I finally found Ms. Cheryl and I couldn't be happier. It's a good feeling to know that my hair is in good hands. Plus, she tells it like it is. On my first appointment she studied my hair, told me all the things that I'd been doing wrong and then told me that "we" were going to work together to get my hair healthy. Then she told me that the first thing I needed to do was to "throw out my hot curlers." I nearly fell out of my chair. I didn't know what I was going to do without them, but I trusted her and she hasn't let me down. I look forward to every appt. and I'm already getting compliments about my new do :) Plus I bought the book for my cousin a "kitchen-trician" and she loved it and shared it with her daughter. It's a wonderful book. Easy to ready with lots of pictures. It's definitely a must have!!

Rating: Summary: A Reader From Houston Review: I read this book in a few hours. It taught me that I was doing a lot of things wrong to my hair. I now understand why my hair is shedding. Thank you Mrs. Moss for telling me the key ingredient you should look for in hair products. I get the feeling Mrs. Moss really cares about her profession and is sincerely trying to make a difference. She give her mailing address in the back of the book and suggests that you write to her if you have any additional questions about Black hair care after reading the book. I say to the sister that was trying to hate on Mrs. Moss, that you did not read this book because you would know that the person you thought was Mrs. Moss is actually her daughter. She tells you that in the book. I can not find fault in her for using her daughter as the main model. She is a very pretty girl after all. And she does give step by step instructions on how you can achieve various styles such as the wrap. But, I didn't buy this book to learn how to do hairstyles. I could have bought a hair magazine to learn how to get a hairstyle. I bought this book to get some insight about Black hair and to learn some of tips that the author recommends I try to have healthier relaxed hair. If you want to learn how to have healthy relaxed hair, I recommend that you buy this book because it showed me how to make my hair healthier. I have been following the tips for two weeks and I can see a definite improvement.
Rating: Summary: Information not useful Review: I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this reading material. Although this book was written in 1999 the information is rather...dated even for that time. It's a shame because Ms. Moss appears to have the proper credentials (past employee for a haircare company, teaching cosmetology at a leading beauty institution, and owning her own hairsalon); however the book provides very elementary (at best) information.
Rating: Summary: A BLACK HAIR CARE BOOK THAT DELIVERS Review: Thank goodness some one took the time to write a Black hair care book that delivers. I found the authors tips to be very helpful, and I learned a lot about my hair from reading this book. The author explains explicitly each healthy hair care tip she gives. Instead of just telling you to do something to your hair, she tells you why you should do it. Be warned, this book is not a hairsssstyling book.I am happy I found this book on Amazon.com. I was tired of reading the hairstyle magazines in the grocery store. They told me how to style my hair, but didn't offer much information on how to make it HEALTHY. I expecially like the beautiful pictures the author used of her client to demonstrate various styling techniques. I was very pleased with the quality of the book(especially the clarity of the photographs)and was also pleased to learn that the book was published by a Black publishing company. I think this book is a very good book, and recommend it highly.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK Review: This book is the best Black hair care book on the market! I have read them all. Healthy Hair Care Tips For Today's Black Woman is very easy to read. I felt like I was having a personal conversation with the author. I finally understand why my hair breaks but will grow at the same time. I now realize what I need to do in order to preserve my hair length. This book also gave me excellent styling tips (with step by step instructions) that are easy to follow. I tried most of the tips already and my hair feels and looks healthier already. If you want healthier hair you need to BUY THIS BOOK. You will never regret it!

I've been doing what the author suggests to keep my hair healthy for about three months and have gotten good results. Every Black woman should buy this book!
Rating: Summary: This book is real!!!! Review: This book was geat it was just what i thought it would be, i did not want a book to tell me how to relax my own hair or how to color my hair and lord knows i don't want to know how to cut my own hair. But i do like to be informed when i contract someone else to do these things for me, cause lets face it just because someone has a licence does not mean they can or will do a good job, and everyone of use has had a bad beauty shop experences and thats because we did not know the fact about what to look for or the right questions to ask. Thanks to Cheryl Moss and her forsight to wright this book no-one has to ever go throught another bad beauty shop experence. Thanks again Ms. Moss for the tips.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK Review: This is a great book that offers a lot of valuable information. I learned things about my hair I was never told about. The author breaks the hair structure down to simple terms that make the book very easy to read and understand. Thank you Amazon.com for having this book available! I was helped tremendously. I purchased this book over two months ago and I can tell that my hair is healthier. I have been following the tips Mrs. Moss gives and now my friends compliment me all of the time on the condition of my hair. They think that I have a new hairstylist because my hair is healthier. I think every woman that wears a chemical relaxer on her hair should buy this Great Book!!
