 << 1 >> Rating:
Summary: Excellent Handbook for Learning about Eating Disorders
Review: The Handbook of Treatment for Eating Disorders is an excellent source for gaining insight into the general and specific aspects of all eating disorders. The impressive compilation of writers cover everything from the history of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, to various treatment approaches for these and other eating disorders, to special topics that are rarely explored in other eating disorder literature. Such additional topics include various eating-related issues with prebubertal individuals, how to address treatment refusal of patients with anorexia nervosa, and treatment issues of those with eating disorders and personality disorders. Each chapter is well written with technical, yet clear, language leaving the reader satisfied with the overview and anxious to explore more literature on the topic. Overall, the entire handbook is a comprehensive guide to most issues in this field. I am a Masters of Social Work student, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, and this book served as the backbone for much of my research. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn more about these issues!
