Summary: Insightful Read for an Educated Audience!
Review: As a patient of Dr. Thurston for eight years, and now expecting our third baby we are delighted to finally have a pregnancy book that is directed to more educated audience. This informative book offers more than just 'a pat on the back' and 'everything is going to be ok' approach. It gives very clinical reasoning, yet clear and simplistic explanations - something that is often difficult to find in most medical books. Not only a great read, but a valuable reference guide.

Summary: Three Cheers for the Best OB/Fertility Doc!
Review: Dr. Thurston has an unbelievable ability to write and talk to women and their partners in a compassionate, intelligent and informative way. . . and always does so with respect and a great sense of humor. I have Dr. Thurston to thank for my precious daughter's exisitence and, in fact, for saving me from a potentially life threatening situation. As for the "Scary" person's comments, please blow them off. I know first hand that Dr. T is very conservative in his approach to C-sections--any other doctor would have given up on my delivery long before he did.

Summary: It's like having Dr. Thurston in your living room.
Review: Dr. Thurston is my doctor and though he is always accessible if I need him, it isn't always convienent to call him at 2:00 a.m. with a quick question. That is why his book is perfect... it is like having him right in my living room, available to answer any question I have, no matter how trivial. I have found the chapter on medications to be invaluable and I refer to it all the time. I also love the pull out reference page on what the little tyke looks like, what I should be feeling and what will happen at my next appointment. My husband looks at the pullout and the whole book all the time and it really helps him to feel involved in the pregnancy. When we first found out we were pregnant, we were clueless as to what to expect. This book answered all our questions and even made us laugh at certain things. His sense of humor really put us at ease. It goes with me everywhere. Dr. Thurston's book...Don't leave home without it!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: PREGNANCY QUESTIONS
Review: This book was given to me by a friend that was a nurse. It answered ALL of my questions and told me what meds and susbstances where safe (or not) during my pregnancy. I loaned this book to a pregnant friend and (sigh) was never returned. I am now pregnant with my second child so I am ordering myself another copy. This book is a fabulous reference guide!

Summary: PREGNANCY QUESTIONS
Review: THIS BOOK WAS OKAY. BUT, I FOUND INFORMATION RELATING TO MY QUESTIONS QUICKER DOING SEARCHES ONLINE.

Summary: Very informative, straight forward answers.
Review: This is a very informative book: before, during and after pregnancy! Although the organization of the index is difficult to follow at times, all of the questions I had were answered with straight-forward and thorough responses. I especially found the sections on drugs, prepared childbirth and labor and delivery helpful. It's great to know that such a knowledgeable Dr. is right down the road from me!

Summary: concerned about all the recommendations coming from TX
Review: This review is aimed at obstetricians searching for a book to recommend to their patients. I have utilized many different books in the past. The phone lines kept ringing. This book really cuts the calls and serves patients with thoughtful, insightful, and in many instances, humorous answers. I give it out, I recommend it, and I'm personally grateful to Dr. Thurston for taking the time to write it. I simply say, review it and try it .......you'll like it!

Summary: My pregnancy bible...
Review: This thoughtful book was designed for the intelligent reader who wants accurate information presented with occasional humor and no preaching. I like that it isn't dumbed down and uses (and defines) the terms my doctor and the nurses use when talking to each other so I know what they're talking about. The frankness of the author's tone provides stability in discussions of even the most awful problems that can occur in pregnancy. Worth the price alone is the tear-out chart that gives month-to-month info on the baby's development, what the mother may be feeling, helpful hints, when to call the doctor, what tests will be done and what will happen at doctor visits. It also has references to web sites where you can get further information. Leave "What to Expect when you're Expecting" on the shelf and buy this book.
