Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS A KEEPER Review: I was surprised when I first saw the size of this book. It seemed too small to cover such an important topic but I was wrong. This book is not only outstanding in its content but beautiful in its simplicity making it easy yet important reading for anyone working with an Autistic child.Mr. Stanton's beautiful and clear description of Autism offers tremendous insight into the daily lives of these children and the need for parents to be involved in the education process if our children are to reach their full potential. He also offers an understanding of how an Autistic child sees the world. Any teacher, family member or concerned friend can not help but benefit from reading this book. I will be keeping multiple copies of this book in my home library so that I can offer them as gifts to anyone who needs a greater understanding of this condition. Thank you, Mr. Stanton. This book is a keeper.
Rating: Summary: A help... Wow do I recognize this kid... Review: This book crams a tremendous amount of insight and information into a very 128 delightful pages! This is the book I recommend most highly for those who want to understand the dynamics of a child's autism. If you can read only one book about autism, this should be the one! As a father, Stanton is able to able to add a great deal of personal insight to his excellent treatment of the science and medine of autism. The book is readable, yet deals with the issues in a sophisticated and very sensitive manner. The chapter on "Myths and Insights" is especially recommended.

Rating: Summary: A help... Wow do I recognize this kid... Review: This book is written by a parent who has been there and done that. Advocating for our children is tough, but it is even tougher when so little is known about their needs by others. When others misunderstand why our children react the way that they do it is nice to be able to turn to some resources that educate and support us in our climb. My daughters principle for next year currently has my copy of this book. He admits that educators do not have a whole lot of knowledge base for dealing with these differently wired children. It was nice to have something to hand to him, and say here read this, then you'll have a better idea what we are facing in giving this sweet child what is needed. More awareness is needed.
