Rating: Summary: Information in Book is Correct Review: After reading Anita's book,I made sure that I had protein for breakfast every morning. One day, I had my usual bagel with peanut butter and yogurt, after which, I attended my morning Public Relations Committee meeting, related to my Volunteer work. The meeting went longer than I anticipated and I did not have a lot of time, from the time my meeting ended and the start of my Secretarial position for a Radiology company I worked for. So I decided to purchase a muffin because I was hungry. By mid-afternoon,I knew I wouldn't last through my evening Journalism class, as a result, I had a brownie. Big mistake. When I got to my evening class, I was so tired, my concentration level was found wanting. Thanks to the information Anita provided in her book,I knew it was because my blood sugar level had dropped. Because I knew the reason behind my fatigue, it enabled me to combat the problem by purchasing some nuts and thereby alleviating my tiredness. For these reasons, I higly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: After struggling with Hypoglycemia for 2 years, I found that there was little information available on the subject and every book or article that I read, pointed to a specific diet. After reading Anita's book, I found that listening to my body and reacting to its needs, was exactly what I needed. Hypoglycemina affects people in many different ways and there isn't one diet that works for all.
Anita has certainly done a lot of research on the subject and it was an easy read with lots of useful information.
I would highly recommend it to anyone suffering from Hypoglycemia.
I also enjoy Anita's weekly Hypo tips via email.
Rating: Summary: Great Source of Information and Easy to Understand Review: I have suffered from headaches, dizziness and shortness of breath for over 20 years. I was eating a lot of sweets and fruit to stop the dizzy spells. After reading Anita's book I was able to track my symptoms directly to my eating habits. I have changed the way I eat and have felt great for months. The few times I eat poorly (i.e. too much sugar) I have a headache within 30 minutes. This book has helped me understand the direct link between the foods I eat and the way I feel. Instead of using sweets to feel better, I make sure I include protein in every meal. Thank you for the information to be able to articulate to friends and family why I now refuse the high sugar treats they offer.
Rating: Summary: Avoid sabotaging your health or diet with sugar Review: This book makes sense of the causes and symptoms of hypoglycemia. Throughout the book Anita shows how fluctuating blood sugars can be controlled to improve health and well-being beyond one's hope. Thank you Anita.
Rating: Summary: Learned a lot from this book Review: This comprehensive, well researched book is a must for anyone suffering with low blood sugar. Unlike some of the other books on the topic, the author does not prescribe a particular diet. Instead, Anita acknowledges that different diets work for different folks; in particular, hypos often have to experiment with their carbohydrate level to find out what works best for them.
Anita presents interviews with a number of people who are hypo, gives a clear and intelligent description of the condition, and has a very impressive bibliography section.
Hypoglycemia is a prevalent but treatable problem. This book is a very useful tool that will help people to understand and stablize their blood sugar.
