Summary: A Book Perfectly Titled
Review: Mary Lou Reed writes from the heart to share her personal journey as she navigated the various stages of grief upon the death of her beloved grandson Alex.

Ms. Reed's own struggle to balance the deeply seated need to grieve for Alex against the maternal urge to ease the pain of her son--Alex's father--paints the perfect portrait of the double edged grief that is unique to grandparents.

As informative as a textbook and as heartwrenching as a fine memoir, Mary Lou Reed's sensitive handling of this difficult topic provides a one of a kind sourcebook for the bereaved grandparent.

Bravo Mary Lou!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Not Just for Grandparents
Review: Ms. Reed does a supurb job of sharing her personal experiences relating to the death of her grandson and her knowledge about the grief process.

I have not experienced the type of loss that Ms. Reed has. I do, however, work with others who have. This book contains much information that could be valuable to anyone who has lost a loved one or knows someone who has.

Besides the valuable information it contains, the book has two other important strengths. First, it contains many references to other books and information sources. Second, and more importantly, it introduces us to an individual we can relate to and care about.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a better understanding of the grief process.
