Summary: Powerful and Inspiring!
Review: After reading Think Like a Winner, I was so eager to read anything Staples wrote. Though Think Like a Winner is definitely a "winner", this book by far was more powerful to me. The quote on every other page inspired me, and fed me when I didn't have time to read the text. His simple, easy to understand method of writing as well as the inspriring text has made this book my "bible" for daily living as I discover my true self. I love this book and recommend it to everyone without hesitation!

Summary: The missing link
Review: As a person, businessman, and inner-family-system psychotherapist, I have studied the search for the true Self for over 40 years. I respect the spirit, thoroughness, and intent of Dr. Staples' book - and believe he misses a crucial factor. Without this factor, many people will read and agree with his well-meant advice and be unable to use it in their lives.

The missing factor is that normal human personalities are made up of talented semi-independent "subselves," like orchestras and sports teams are composed of specialists. People who are blessed with a high-nurturance environment in their earliest years develop an "inner family" of subselves led by an innately skilled leader: the "true Self" Dr. Staples refers to. The majority of us develop personalities often led by other specialist subselves - a "false self." This is like having a professional football team directed by the left tackle, rather than the wise, veteran coach.

Readers whose inner families are often guided by their true Self probably don't need to read Dr. Staples' book, for much of what he says seems to be innate. For the rest of us, we need to know how to free our true Self to lead, over time, in order to use his good ideas. It may be that Dr. Staples' enthusiasm comes from the satisfaction of living from his true Self without knowing it, and believing everyone else can too, without knowing how.

For more perspective on this and a way to learn who's directing *your* life, invest in the guidebook "Who's *Really* Running Your Life? - Free your Self and guard your kids" (Xlibris.com, 2002)

Summary: maximize your potential
Review: I recommend this book and author to all of my friends and my seminar attendees. This book will pick you up and gently shake you and you'll never be the same again. Your life will change and the future will become brighter and full of promise beyond your dreams. If for some reason you could only read one book......this is the one.
