Summary: A great understanding of the times, and the man !!!!
Review: This book should not only inspire readers to take a look around themselves but to admire the way Robert F. Kennedy saw things when he was looking. An example of this is at the bottom of the fifth page. You begin to see that this is not just a book of quotes but a look at the times through the eyes of someone who saw solutions in a time for strong leadership. This book is not just for one political prefference, it is a way to look, listen, and see things that never were and ask WHY NOT!!!

Summary: You will feel as though he is speaking DIRECTLY to you
Review: This is a great lunchtime reading book for people who don't get as much time to read as they'd like. It is thought provoking for those who are usually so wrapped up in the day-to-day world and would like to escape into the contemplation of the 'big' questions. It is a good book for young and middle-aged alike; it will teach one group about the times they missed, and the other group about what's important in life. (The trick is to figure out which group gets which needed lesson.)

This book is about topics that are fresh today.

It is written by a son in search of his father. We find him, as Maxwell Taylor Kennedy makes the formal introduction to RFK for us all.

Summary: Inspirational-Politicians can and do have values.
Review: This was a very nice collection of thoughts and inspirations of the late Sen. Robert Kennedy. It renewed a hope that politicians can truly be out for the little guys. Sen. Robert Kennedy's words made you want to get out and make a difference in the world. Sen. Kennedy taught us of kindness and a need to help our fellow man yet also for each of us to take responsibilty for ourselves. As someone who was only little when the senator was assasinated I found it interesting how the words and messages of over 30 years ago could apply so well to our situation today. I would reccommend this book to anyone who needs a little inspiration!

Summary: MAKE GENTLE THE LIFE OF THIS WORLD
Review: Throughout the 1960s, Robert F. Kennedy personally recorded ideas, ideals, and principles that spoke to his mind and his heart in a private journal. Now, thirty years after Robert's tragic death, his son Maxwell Taylor Kennedy has drawn from both this journal and his father's speeches to offer the quintessence and the depth of his thinking. Filled with energy and insight, Make Gentle the life of this World is the invigorating and thought - provoking portrait of a mind that shaped a generation and of a man who lived for his country. Beautifully illustrated with photos both public and private, some published here for the first time, Make Gentle the Life of This World commemorates how Robert F. Kennedy touched our hearts and quickened our lives.

Summary: An Inspirational Remembrance of Bobby Kennedy
Review: While I thought that reading this book would take me back to the 1960's, I was struck by how relevant Bobby's quotes (and others) are today. While some classified him as a "liberal," many of his comments and solutions suggest that government (even then) was too big and could not solve the problems of our people. I think Bobby was a pragmatist who had true compassion for others. How unfortunate for us that there is no one in government today with his optimism, convictions, and ideas. As I concluded the book, I was even more haunted by the notion of '...if only he had lived...'

Summary: Reminders
Review: While those alive during 1968 clearly remember his assassination and cannot help but be moved when reminded of the young leader, the power of Robert F. Kennedy's actions and the emotion of his words are still able to make those of a younger generation yearn for the type of leadership he provided. Divided into appropriately title sections, such as "A Citizen in a Civil Society" or the "Life of the Heart," this book is a collection of the thoughts and feelings written in the day journal he kept during the 1960s. Maxwell Taylor Kennedy's tribute to his father is filled with quotes, either read or heard, from different sources, along with reactions to those words. A man whose life was cut short in its prime, Kennedy did not have the chance to change the world in the way he wanted to, the way only he could have. This book gives the reader a little insight into the mind of a great politician, a inspirational philospher, an idealistic dreamer, a kind man. Like Martin Luther King Jr, Kennedy had a vision of the world that he wanted his children, and all people, to live and prosper in. This touching tribute reminds us that peoples are not all that different from each other and the path to equality and a peaceful environment is not as hidden or unattainable as it seems. In a society where doing right and good is less and less commendable, this book provides encouragement to dream and reminders of what society should be. Robert F. Kennedy was a man unlike any other, and this book, through his own words, reminds us why he is to be missed.
