Summary: It's Awesome
Review: This book is truly a book for the intelectually elite. Obviously, the others that gave this work of literary genius a review, know nothing about judging books. I would recommend this masterpiece to any aspiring historian or student who wishes to excel.

Summary: Makes History a logical , comon sense stream of events
Review: I initially had the pleasure of reading an earlier version of this book during my high-school years....about 12 years ago. I have since graduated college and medical school, but have never lost my intrigue for American history and politics that was first sparked by reading this assigned textbook. After hearing the liberally slanted media day in and day out report world and US events in a tainted fashion, I've become determined to return to an updated version of this American History masterpiece to obtain the truth from a highly intelligent and witty author. I'm hoping that the lastest version will have the guts to lambast the mockery that Clinton has made of the presidential office, while presenting clear cut facts to back it up. The American Pageant will be my "bible" of political and historical events that will be dog-earred in no time at my household. I sincerely thank Mr. Bailey for creating such an enjoyable, readable, and thorough compilation. I plan to give copies of the latest edition to all my younger relatives to get them to understand the truth of history before their minds are tainted with the sensationalism that has overrun the main-stream news sources.

Thank You again for an exceptional work!

Summary: The best textbook I've ever read!
Review: This was the best textbook I've ever read! My class absolutely loves Bailey now. We do tributes to him on our classroom door by taking a photocopy of his head and dress him as Santa or the Easter Bunny. Bailey rocks. I highly recommend this book for classroom use. He gets you to remember things because of the unique way he words it. It doesn't put you to sleep, and he makes you laugh. Bailey gets two thumbs way way up!

Summary: Bailey's American Pageant is educational, but tedious
Review: I used this book for my sophomore history class and I will continue using the last half of the book next year in US History AP. Although I learned a lot from this book, I think that it is extremely boring. You can only read a certain number of pages at a time before your mind begins to wander. I recommend that after every ten pages (normally half way through a chapter) you go for a ten minute walk to clear your head... otherwise, the remaining pages drag by VERY slowly. In addition, this book lacks a review of chapters, and fails to point out important facts in history- making it extremely difficult to review for a final exam. However, on the other hand, the book is well-written (though sometimes a little corny or too metaphorical) and gives the reader a lot of information about American history.

Summary: This book attempts to fulfill its purpose
Review: I read this book in my Pre-I.B. American History class. I like history, so this book appealed to my interests. However, I believe that it contains a lot of what may be classified as the personal opinion of the author. I am not an expert on history, and this book has taught me a lot, but I believe the purpose may have been fulfilled in a simpler and easier to read fashion.

Summary: Bailey is the Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: For a wonderful class, I was encouraged to read and take notes on The American Pageant. I did, and Thomas Andrew Bailey has boosted my knowlege of American History in inexplicable ways. I reccommend this book to anyone with any desire to learn about American History. Bailey Rules!!!!!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: humorous and insightful
Review: This book does a good job of teaching history and is also hilarious. From the number of trousers owned by Chester Arthur to the height and weight of every president and important senator to numerous witty one liners, this book teaches and entertains at the same time. The only thing it lacks is review questions.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good Textbook
Review: This is my American History Textbook for 10th grade, and it is very good. The only bad thing about it is that it doesn't have vocab words or anything to point out main ideas.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A very approachable text to early United States history
Review: Though, like any history textbook, Bailey's wades through a sea of dates and names, he also has a wry sense of humor which makes the text often fun to read. From quips about prostitution and presidential inadequacies we see that this author is more than just a noted historian, he is a burgeoning comedian, too.
