Rating: Summary: Want to know what's REALLY going on in the World? Review: "When things don't change, regardless of who's party is in power, then someone else is in control". This is a key thesis statement made in this outstanding book. I took economics in college and found it summarized here. When you stop and think about "WHAT" and "WHO" influences the world (as it's spelled out in the book) you'll begin to understand the "WHY's" and "HOWS". Want to know what's going to happen to Clinton and Why, read this book. If you understand that those elected to power in this and other countries take their orders from other people at higher levels of power, then you'll begin to understand what's beginning to take shape in this and other countries of the world. If you only read one book (other than the Bible) read this one.
Rating: Summary: The Conspiracy is Drooling with pleasure! Review: As a strong believer in a conspiratorial view of history, I find Mr. Epperson's opus to be quite objectionable. Though the conspiratorial view of history is a plausible and academically founded theory, the drivel that Mr. Epperson is peddling serves as a severe diservice to all those who believe it. If one can possibly slough through the inanely mindnumbing boredom of the text, one is still only able to find poorly constructed arguments supported with warrentless evidence. In fact, while some of what Epperson spews is acceptable, he insists on attatching an absurd theory that the masons are at the head of the conspiracy. Frankly, I can only say that the conspiracy that does exist must be incredibly pleased with Mr. Epperson's work; it will distract and divert the weak-minded reader away from the truth. A sharp minded reader might even grow to expect that Mr. Epperson himself is in league with the existing conspiracy-- he has been hired to discredit the conspiratorial view of history-- and writes this book at their direction alone. For those truly interested in discovering the conspiracy, I highly recommend the works of Eustace Clarence Mullins. They are concise, well researched studies of the true economic slavery that is being perpetrated against the citizens of this world by a "shadow government." For those still left unsatisfied, please email me immediately.
Rating: Summary: An excellent right-wing cure for sleeplessness Review: Bad does not even begin to describe this book. It is the most poorly cited, inaccurate, biased, piece of filth that has left the press in recent memory. Of course, it contains all the mandatory dogma of the religious right; from the ad hom attacks on anyone who isn't a strict Christian (and even they are in trouble if they aren't member of the John Birch Society) to the appalling chapter dealing with evolution. However, Epperson saves most of his scorn for people who dare to have slight doubts about his wacky and poorly constructed theory. Therefore, unless you want to purchase a boring poorly constructed book, just for the sake of buying something, I would recommend that you stay away from this book at costs.
Rating: Summary: FACTS DO NOT SUPPORT CONCLUSIONS Review: EPPERSON USES FACTS WHICH SEEM FOR THE MOST PART TO BE TRUE ALTHOUGH ONE IS ALWAYS SKEPTICAL OF PARTIAL QUOTES AND RELYING ON ANOTHERS OPINION OF WRITINGS ONE HAS NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO READ. THE BOOK IS CERTAINLY FILLED WITH THOUGHT PROVOKING MATERIAL; HOWEVER, I DO NOT FEEL EPPERSON PROVES THAT THERE IS A UNIFIED CONSPIRACY TO PROMOTE COMMUNISM AMONG THOSE WHO BENEFIT MOST FROM CAPITALISM-THE PARADOX IS JUST TOO MUCH FOR ME TO ACCEPT BASED ON THE EVIDENCE PROVIDED IN THE BOOK-I THINK WHAT EPPERSON DOES PROVE IS THAT GREED AND WEALTH HAVE CAUSED THE DEATH OF TOO MANY PEOPLE AND HAVE WRONGFULLY INFLUENCED OUR GOVERNMENT FROM TIME TO TIME. I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT IF ONE OWNS BUSINESSES AROUND THE WORLD ONE WOULD WANT SOME WORLD ORDER TO MAXIMIZE THE CHANCES OF MAINTAINING ONE'S WEALTH. I FURTHER REALIZE THE INDUSTRIAL WAR COMPLEX WOULD LOBBY TO SERVE ITS OWN INTERESTS AND THAT OUR GOVERNMENT HAS NOT ALWAYS BEEN TRUTHFUL E.G. THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION, ROSWELL,ETC. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT MOTIVATES ONE TO SEEK THE TRUTH. SINCE COMMUNISM HAS FALLEN IN THE OLD SOVIET UNION AT LEAST FOR NOW-I WOULD WONDER HOW EPPERSON FEELS ABOUT THIS IN LIGHT OF HIS POSTULATES ???
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book For Exploring The Conspiratorial Ideology Review: Epperson's subtitle to this book: "An Introduction to the Conspiratorial View of History" accurately conveys the school of thought he utilizes in this writing. The author successfully condenses the myriad of events, clandestine manipulations and little known facts that expose the workings of powerful men who have orchestrated a centuries-long international conspiracy. The fomentation of wars, financial manipulations, assassinations and political intrigue are addressed in an easy to read, concise manner. This is not a paranoid, "conspiracy-buff" text. Instead it serves as a mini-encyclopedia that enables the reader to come to grips with the fact that "known" history is not necessarily "actual" history. Epperson, as does many writers of this subject matter, digresses when instilling his Christian viewpoints. His attempt to interconnect his ample conspiracy data with biblical ideology is a futile one, and such a viewpoint would best be served in another writing. Nonetheless, this is an interesting read and although tedious in spots (it's written somewhat like a text book), serves as a must have for all students of clandestine history.
Rating: Summary: The Unseen Hand- A masterpiece of Pure Satarical Brillance Review: Every era has a work of satire that is recognized above all others for the sheer brutality, ironic beauty, and insight offered by the work. When an individual thinks of great works of satire, material such as Voltaire's "Candide," Swift's "A Modest Proposal" and Orwell's "Animal Farm" come to mind. Unfortunately, A. Ralph Epperson's "The Unseen Hand " is not currently on the list. This is an utterly inexcusable travesty. A. Ralph Epperson under a shallow guise of seriousness provides a troubling, but honest critique into the mind of conspiracy theorists. It clear Epperson understands how conspiracy theorists think, however, it is clear that he is not foolish enough to believe it himself. I find 3 aspects of his satirical methodology particularly ingenious. First, he is absolutely brilliant in his use of a citation system, if you can call it that. He is masterfully in demonstrating that the citations used by conspiracy theorists are, at best, questionable. At worst and all too frequently, are belligerently inaccurate and misleading. Epperson makes this shortcoming crystal clear, while never letting down the Swiftian guise of seriousness that permeates this entire work. Second, Epperson demonstrates just how flawed the paradigm of a "conspiratorial view of history" is. Admittedly, he sinks to their level in order to write "The Unseen Hand," but he only does so to mock, ridicule, and expose how inherently contradictory it is. Finally, Epperson exposes the rampant logical fallacies that infest every aspect of conspiratorial literature. There as so many logical fallacies that I can't point them all out here without exceeding the word limit, but I feel obligated to give one small sampling of the fallacious techniques used by the type of authors Epperson so effectively mocks. Throughout the entire work the same fallacy occurs, the "post hoc, ergo propter hoc" fallacy, which means "after this, therefore because of this." Epperson takes this fallacy to such an outlandish extreme in order to demonstrate that there in no shred of creditability in the fundamental tenant of conspiracy theory that holds that just because some individuals or group benefited from an event occurring that they must have been responsible for its occurrence. The author demonstrates that this theory is just as feasible as the idea that simply because a farmer needs rain to grows crops, the farmer is responsible for the rain occurring. In conclusion, I would recommend this book to anyone possess a taste for highly cultivated satire. Epperson displays an impressive mastery of the art of satire. This book will make you laugh, reexamine your values, enhance your critical thinking abilities, feel sorrow for people who believe what Epperson is mocking is actually fact, and finally, smile because you realize you are not ignorant enough to believe in conspiracy theories yourself. Hopefully, Epperson will some day get the credit he rightfully deserves and "The Unseen Hand" will be placed in the highest tier of satirical writing.
Rating: Summary: revealing the real "democracy" in the USA Review: For me, the most interesting chapters are about actual US support of totalitarian and dictatorship societies, where we have the very convincing (and for me not-so-shocking) example of Cuba. I also read "The New World Order" and definately hope that each and every one of us will not blindely swallow all the manipulative information that TV serves us every day. I also hope that people will start wondering "what's behind" before they decide to judge the political happenings in some other country. Comming from the state whose citizens are being constantly satanized by American media in the past 9 years, and bombed by the US government, I will be more than grateful one day when I see Mr. Epperson's view of how and why the Serbs were used by tne New World Order, and why is US government actually supporting our president in his attempts to tear my country apart.
Rating: Summary: an introduction into the conspiratorial view of history Review: I beleive Epperson is an intelligent person he wrote a book that you can't put down. A book that has the frightening reality of the world. I dont know how to sum up the book it is a masterpeice. I am of young age but i do hope that some day Epperson is widely read and worldy famous and can possibly be another new age enlightenment thinker. I hope that the world realizes what is really happening in it. The facts are there they are simply undeniable and I believe with the amount of evidence given by Epperson it is fair to state that there is an international conspiracy. So if you are reading my review i hope that you as i have realize the truth about the world today and please read Epperson's book.
Rating: Summary: The Unseen Hand is a Laugh-a-Minute Joy Ride Review: I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. It provided me with hours and hours of reading pleasure. It's endlessly entertaining. Like most good fiction, it contains just enough humor to keep the reader enthralled (for example the author's knowledge of history seems to be the longest running joke!), but maintains a sober facade. Don't be fooled, though; if you're looking for a serious scholarly work, you won't find it here. Through displaying his complete lack of knowledge of the rules of citation, the constant use of internally contradictory arguments, and, of course, a saturation of over generalizations flimsily supported by a complete lack of coherent evidence, A. Ralph makes sure we can't possibly take this book seriously. So read up, and enjoy, because nothing says laughter like conspiracy nuts!
Rating: Summary: Get this book now! Review: I first read this book as a teenager nearly fifteen years ago and it blew my mind. This book is on target in its content and will completely challenge the media driven accepted view of history that most of us were taught in the government schools geared at indoctrination. Learn what historical figures were actually like, as opposed to the revisionist version(s) of history that we are now subjected to daily. This book is historically more accurate than any I have ever seen
