Rating: Summary: GRATE IT BRINGS ME BACK TO A DAY IN MY LIFE Review: I CAN SAY THAT EVERY THING THAT ROY SAID IS TRUE.I WAS A CREW CHEIF ON ONE OF THE MADDOG HELICOPTER GUN SHIPS THAT SUPPORTED ROY ON THAT DAY IN HISTORY .I SAW ROY JUMP OUT THE DOOR OF ONE OF OUR GRAYHOUND SLICKS at THE TIME I THOUGHT HE HAD BIN SHOT OT OF THE DOOR.IT WASN T TILL WE LANDED THAT I FOUND OUT WHAT HAD HAPPEND TO ROY. HE IS A GRATE PERSON AND HIS LIFE SHOULD BE MADE I TO A MOVIE FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SE
Rating: Summary: unbelievable and compelling Review: I could notput this book down. The amazing part of the entire story is that it is entirely true. I read Roy's actual medal of honor citation at the medal of honor museum. What was also interesting to read was about Roy's life prior to winning the MOH. The things he overcame personally were very compelling. If you have served in the military you have to read this book. I would love to meet this man in person. He is a true American hero who thought of his comrades before himself. Fantastic story
Rating: Summary: A True Hero Review: I had the distinct pleasure of writing and receiving mail from Roy Benavidez when I was in the military. None of this would have been possible without first reading his book, (which should be made into a movie). This man is a true inspiration for all to emulate. I recommend it to young and old alike.

Rating: Summary: MEMORABLE AND HONORED TO HAVE MET HIM!!! Review: I truly enjoyed the book! I met MSG Roy P. Benavidez in 1990 while stationed in the Air Force at Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas. The book is a must to read. It's an inspiration to all mankind. Unfortunately, on 11-30-98, he passed away. I attended his funeral services along with hundreds to pay our respects to a man whom I met in my lifetime and will never forget. The book has been written. Now, the movie must be made...
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable!!! Awesome!!! Review: It is amazing what someone can go through in their lifetime. This book was a tear jerker. I had the opportunity to be their when my father teamed up with John Craig to write his autobiography. Yes, I am the son of Roy P. Benavidez who is also my hero and I am very, very proud of him. He has overcome tremendous odds in his lifetime to acheive success, including bigotry in his home town of El Campo, Texas as well as raising his younger brother after their parents passed away when he was only seven years old. I agree with PGailis@star.net, his life story should be made into a movie. His life story is a prime example to all americans that they to can succeed in life, no matter what their ethnic background is or what type of disabilty they might suffer from. My father has always preached to me that a good education is the key to success. Bad habits and bad company will ruin you. Believe it or not it is true. This is a must read book!! Once you pick it up, you will not put it down until you finish reading it. I guarantee it! You will never read anything like this again.
Rating: Summary: More than words Review: My father told Roy's heroism as a bedtime story when I was a very young - before Roy even receive the Medal of Honor from President Reagan and before this book was written. You see, my family is the 1st generation from Vietnam. While he was in the army, my father had the honor and privilege meeting Roy. Needless to say, my father revive Roy's story numerous times to me. I never imagine it was all real...I am so overwhelm while reading this book that it is all true. A definitely must read.

Rating: Summary: A True Hero Review: My USA retired husband saw Roy Benavidez 3 days before he passed in Nov '98. Visitors were restricted but Roy beckoned for him to come into his hospital room (he always made time for everyone). He was in great pain and had his shirt off. His scars showed. A few words were spoken between 2 battlefield brothers. It must have been a comfort to the family to see the hundreds who went to the funeral. Mrs. Benevidez resides in El Campo TX, drop her a line to tell her you still remember Roy. Maybe one day a movie will be made about THIS FINE CHRISTIAN MAN.
Rating: Summary: powerful and direct!!!!!!! Review: Roy P. Benavidez is a true american hero, his story is both powerful and direct. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the human condition. Great read!!!!!!
