Summary: Fun AND serious look into her-story!
Review: Annette Madden has done a spectacular job in this book on women of African descent from all over the world. I would never have known the wide spectrum of accomplishments, and the variety of locations, of these wonderful women. I feel as if I have been let in on a secret that everyone should know! Thank you Ms. Madden!

Summary: Thanks for FINALLY telling the TRUTH
Review: First, I'd like to thank the writer for being bold enough to tell the truth. A truth that has been distorted for many years. It is a SCIENTIFIC fact that ALL human life derived from AFRICANS. When I say AFRICANS, I am referring to the original peoples of Africa that were naturally born with various shades of MELANIN. MELANIN naturally comes in shades of black, brown, red and yellow. The Bushmen of Africa have YELLOWish skin tones and they are NOT mixed. The Pigmies have an orange tint to their skin and slanted eyes and according to an L.A. Times article they are the ancestors of the Chinese.Likewise, persiankitten, you should realize that many people of the Middle East and evenmore so Arabia are indeed BLACK .... take a look at the folks in YEMEN. Even the infamous Osama Bin Laden is black! It is also a fact that many modern-day North Africans are STILL black. Those so-called Egyptians you refer to came in with the Greek dynasties. They are not the REAL Egyptians. Even the World Book Encyclopedia says that the ancient Egyptians were BLACK-skinned with straight hair. And to take it a little further, the great conqueror Hannibal insured that many modern-day Greeks REMAIN people of color by years of occupying Italy, Spain, etc., and "breeding up" the Greek women. All ORIGINAL people of the world came from Black folks and that is a scientific fact. When a person is white, they lack MELANIN. When a person's hair is straight that hair has mutated and is indeed a broken bond. As Africans moved out of Africa into Asia and finally somewhere into the Caucasoid mountains. Their genes went through a mutation process and genetic shift. That is why GENETICALLY Asians are closest to Africans and CaucASIANS are the furtherest. But don't take my word for it... do the scientific research for yourself. And by the way, according to CNN.com, Jesus Christ had BROWN skin, too!

The blend of well-known historic figures with black women who have made invaluable contributions in their careers and fields makes for a diverse and recommended collection.

Summary: God doesn't like UGLY!
Review: Persiankitten, you are tripping! Fine, whatever, you think that the Queen of Sheba and Cleopatra are not black like me...good for you... But why so bitter? I can only assume you are feeling a little threatened by the strength of black beauty? Otherwise I really see no need for bringing up Jesus, how annoyed you are by black people, etc. Perhaps instead of worrying so much about definitions of beauty that come from the outside, you should try to focus more on your inner beauty. When you do that...you know that there is no need for rudeness and overcategorization on the basis of race. Black people are just as justified in thinking that these people were black...Why would we trust what white people say about the matter? Aren't they the ones that forced us to come to this country in chains?! Oh and by the way, Beethoven was black, too:) Peace up and I'm outtie!

Review: The Queen of Sheba was from Arabia! She is a famous beauty. She most likely had white skin and black hair and eyes. This women needs to get her facts straightened up or take a history class! I have nothing against people of color, but every so often a black person comes along and claims all sorts of historical figures which were NOT black as black! This is really ANNOYING! The Queen of Sheba was Arabian!!!! "Sheba" was a place in the Arabian Penninsula. Arabians are not black! AND, just because you are from AFRICA does not mean you are black! Egyptians, Morrocans, and the rest of North Africa are Caucasian Middle Easterns! They are not black! I even heard a black person say Jesus was black! Hello! He (if he existed that is) was from the Middle East, and had Middle Eastern features. I don't see any black people from Israel! Jesus was not black! You can't just go around and claim everyone is black as you please, OK? Cleopatra was Roman and Egyptian! Cleopatra was Caucisian. Egyptians are NOT BLACK! Cleopatra was NOT black! Get over it!

Review: You are most uninformed...I am an anthropologist and the Queen of Sheeba was Ethopian, from the land of Cush, south of Egypt. She was in no way shape or form caucasian. If you don't have anything against people of color, why does this book offend you so much. Could it be that you have a race issue? Think about it.
