Rating: Summary: Buy My Book Or I'll Kill My Dog Review: Talk radio person Glenn Beck was threatening on his show that he would kill a puppy if enough people did not buy his book and get it on the top ten list at amazon.com. A lot of people called in to complain, so at the end of the week, he admitted, in a joking, cynical manner, that it was just a publicity stunt. And then, getting serious, he explained that there had really been a "point" or "higher purpose" being served by what he was doing. People who threaten to kill animals always have a "point." Usually, it's about letting the kids or the wife know "who's really in charge here." It's a control issue - about getting one's way. In Mr. Beck's case, the "point" was to sell more books. Mr. Beck's show comes out of Philadelphia, where we gather it may be a crime to threaten to kill a dog. We're checking that out. Regardless, we know all too well that people who threaten to kill animals - even as a "joke" - often go on to do just that. And what kind of example can this man be setting to listeners, especially young ones, who hear that one can get one's way by threatening to kill a puppy? Mr. Beck is now off on a book signing tour that begins at a Barnes & Noble in the Tampa, Florida, area on Monday September 29th. Quite a lot of people have been calling the store to complain. Mr. Beck loves publicity of any kind, and enjoys stirring up controversy. We don't want to give him the publicity he craves, but it would certainly be worthwhile to call up any or all of these stores near you, to let them know that if the signing goes ahead at their store, they'll be losing you as a customer. You might even want to call ALL the stores!Michael Mountain Best Friends Animal Society, www.bestfriends.org P.S. We called amazon.com about this, and a Mr. Curry eventually returned our call and told us that if Mr Beck didn't quit threatening to kill his dog, they would pull his book from their program. Mr. Beck didn't quit, and, as you can see, neither did Amazon! Book signings are set for: Tampa - Monday, Sept 29, 2003 - 7:00 PM BARNES & NOBLE, 11802 N. Rating: Summary: In a word: GENIUS Review: I loved the "Bobo" bit on Glenn's show! Glenn Beck is a genius. If the book is even half as good as Beck's radio show, it'll be great.
Rating: Summary: Boy those glenn beck haters are pretty stupid Review: Glenn was obviously joking about Bobo.... but the glenn haters have to do something because they lack the ability to please their partner : ) oh, by the way the book is great buy it. don't buy the al franken book...
Rating: Summary: If liberals hate him so much, must be doing something right Review: Glenn Beck says what everybody wishes they could say but are afraid to say it. And in this book he tells us why we are afraid to say it. Glenn Beck is O'reilly on steroids. Not for the faint of heart, or the stupid. So GOMP and buy the book and save BOBO. JNAM
Rating: Summary: Hymn to the Best of American Culture Review: Anyone who has listened even briefly to Glenn Beck's radio program is familiar not only with his passion, but also with his genius. It is not breathtaking hyperpole to claim that THE REAL AMERICA may one day take its place in the canon of American cultural history. This one is not to be missed!
Rating: Summary: Can't Wait to Read it. Review: Glenn is even funnier than Rush, so this book ought to be brilliant. And by the way, anyone who actually believes somebody would kill an animal on the radio is an absolute sucker! And also, let's try to find some real dialogue and not resort to that tired old Haliburton lie when talking about someone not even related to it.
Rating: Summary: Hrumph.... Review: If a man is willing to take an innocent life just because his book didn't make the Amazon bestseller list on time, then he must be the lowest human being that has ever been created. Of course, this begs the question if God really created him or not. But, I digress. I might have taken a look at his book before...but definitely not now....and, realistically, he should lose his job and be banned from all radio stations...and maybe even sent to jail or fined. But, since we live in the times we do in this country, I highly doubt that is going to happen. And, by the way, I am not a liberal.
Rating: Summary: GB is a GENIUS! Review: I just wanted to let the world know that Glenn Beck is a genius! Love the show - keep up the great work!
Rating: Summary: Just doing what is right! Review: I just bought the book to save the DOG.
Rating: Summary: Typical Whiner Review: If you have ever caught Glen Beck on the radio then you recognize his shrill voice in an instant. He's the one who whines about how others whine, yet his voice is always tinged with a mixture of yelling and that of an elementary school kid crying cause he broke his crayon. His "Support America" rallys are nothing more than attempt to sell more books, get his name out there and further capitalize on dying troops. If he were really in the business of "supporting" them, then he'd fight for better water supplies, higher wages and them not having ot pay out of pocket for their own supplies while Halliburton rakes in billions. Save the dog and put Glen down.
