Summary: FABULOUS HISTORY BOOK!
Review: I can't say that I'm a history lover, but this book defintiely kept me interested. (Interested enough that I tested out of my first two semesters of European History!)

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Reading but for School a 4... I guess :)
Review: If you are buying it for school- it is required- then of course you must purchase it. If not then I say don't buy it for reading beacuase it is a little boring. Dates after peoples names it is to much! A whole lot of info but hard to understand. Get it for school not for anything else. Oh yes it probably would help on the Ap exam but I think you should also by a study guide and workbook beacause that helps. ( if you do it right!) :) Well Goodluck! Oh my bad review of a 3 is not that it has bad info it is because it is for school and I get so bored. Hope this helps!

Summary: Oh my...it's certainly "special"
Review: Lord help us if this book ever replaces the interaction between a student and teacher! If that happens, we're doomed! This book should come with a warning label:
Warning! Dangerously boring contents enclosed. Fasten a bib so as to not drool on your clothes before proceeding.

Yet another boring "brainiac" book in the saga of Kagan books; please think before you buy! It's not any better than the previous editions for the earlier sections of history. Yes yes, it has photos...oooh, ahhh. Now, let's pretend that you actually will read it. Oh! Haha! That's right! It's not possible! It's too boring. Names, dates, locations...it's very drawn out and you don't get enough of the "why's" to understand the significance of these events in history. They should take Elvis's advice and return this baby to sender!

Summary: This is the Best History Book......EVER
Review: This is the easiest to understand and has the greatest amount of information. It helped me get a four on the AP european history test and helped many of my friends get fives. After using this, all other history books seem to be unorganized and useless. Kagan is a genius, just like Mr. Nitz

Summary: terrible!
Review: This textbook is boring, pretentiously written, and does not present the information in a concise, understandable way. I am currently using it for an AP European History class, and after a year of using Bailey's "The American Pageant" for AP US, the difference is so blatant. The American Pageant breaks down time periods concisely into clear paragraphs and you don't fall asleep reading it. Often with this text, I find myself having to read the same page 10 times to actually comprehend it, it's that dull. I passed the AP US exam, but I'm not so sure about the AP Euro (due in part to the teacher, and in part to this inferior text.)

Summary: Drink a lot of caffeine before reading this book
Review: Up until now, I have been completely infatuated in anything European and anything to do with history. I then naturally enrolled myself in the A.P. Euro. Hist. course at my school. I must say that I have never read a textbook more boring and less comprehensive than this, and I most definitely feel that it is wearing away at my deep-founded love for history. It explores concepts at an extremely vague level, almost to the point where it makes the reader (or at least me) want to take it out and burn it. I have asked my teacher if I may use an older textbook called "The History of the Modern World", which, despite its advanced age and total lack of pictures (I love my pictures), I find so much more interesting and far, far, far more comprehensive than "The Western Heritage" could ever be. Compare reading this book to spending and hour and a half each night watching and studying "Mr. Roger's Neighbourhood", and you'd understand what I mean by "boring". My best advice would be to drink large amounts of caffeine before attempting to read this book.
