Rating: Summary: Madness! Man's inhumanity to man Review: We are going to Poland. I wanted to research the effect of World War II on the cities and countryside, in order to have a better appreciation as we traveled around. I found what I wanted. Not in as much detail as desired, but enough. What I also found, unexpectedly, was a very well documented and written book, especially concerning the holocaust and all the brutality of the Nazis. I have always been distressed by what happened, but I never imagined it was as bad as it was, even though I knew it was horrible. The Jews were the principle sufferers, but not the only ones. Man's inhumanity to man! How, Why? Discouraging to contemplate the human condition!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic detail and chronological reports Review: Why? Why was this horrible war begun? Mr. Gilbert has created an excellent work of recording history's terrible war. He has brought out fine, interesting details adding essential depth to the human tradegy of this war.
Rating: Summary: An incredible book Review: World War II is the area of history that I study the most, and this book is its best description that I have ever seen. The detail is incredible and for the first time I was given a truly complete, unbiased picture of the war.
