Review: The essays in this book do a wonderful job of introducing the reader to the complexities of the Atlantic world. It has become increasingly difficult to think of England in this era without also recalling events in North and South America and the Carribean, not to mention Africa. However, the book suffers at times from its style. Each essay is written by a different historian and, although well researched, the book sometimes suffers from incontinuities and repetition. All in all, if you are interested in the wider world during this period, this is a great introduction that will likely leave you hungering for more.
