Rating: Summary: Tanks, APC's and other Armored Things Review: This paperback edition of the Jane's series is a major feat. Jane's takes all of the available information and some errors which are unforgiveable, whips them together with standard stock photos and presto, makes a WORKABLE basic guide to modern armor. There are ommissions and very poor editorial control all over the place. I wish that Jane's would have spent more time with the book. Many if not all of the pictures are the same in Tanks of The World, by David Miller. I was surprised by the number of wheeled armored vehicles in this book. Not great, but good.
Rating: Summary: This is a great, exaustive and complete book. Review: To anyone who likes military hardware this is surely a MUST BUY.
Rating: Summary: Poor Man's version of Jane's Armour and Artillery Review: Very concise, and detailed information on most AFVs of the world. Good effort made to include AFVs from China, and lesser known manufacturers. Very good value. Two main weaknesses though. Under status, countries are listed that have the particular AFV in service, but no numbers are given. Even an educated guess of the number in service would be helpful. Second, Rate of Fire for the main armament of MBTs, and light tanks should be given, along with their maximum effective range. The Key Recognition Features of each AFV is a waste of space as the photos and technical drawings are quite revealing. All in, this book is a good addition to my collection, and much appreciated by an ex-tanker.
