Rating: Summary: The 9/11 Commission should be ashamed. Review: After comparing the facts revealed in Paul Thompson's Terror Timeline to those released in the 9/11 Commission's Final Report, I was forced to draw the conclusion that the Commission is guilty of issuing an incomplete and misleading account of the events leading up to, the causes of, and the actions during 9/11. Whether it be the dozens of specific warnings or the obstructions into FBI investigations; the ISI's complicity or the ignored money trail; the 9/11 war games or the unprecedented failure to defend America's skies; they are just a few of the dozen or so subjects that the 9/11 Commission consciously ignored; and they are critical, not just for the public's, but for history's understanding of the attacks. As long as we continue to ignore the problems that caused 9/11, we will be unable to correct them. I urge anybody and everybody -- especially my fellow Americans -- to read this book and spread the information it provides.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must-read for EVERY American Review: As a person who never had the focus and concentration to read political books, I found Paul's website while seeking answers to why 9-11 happened and started reading his extensive timeline and my whole life was changed.
This book opened my eyes to the network of corruption that exist in this country and how the Bush family tentacles reach deep into other countries in the world.
The simplistic explanation that 19 hijackers pulled off the 9-11 attacks with some box cutters will suddenly seem ludicrous after you read this book.
Buy it today and get enlightened!
Rating: Summary: Five stars - Must read Review: As I said on the only other book on the issue that I gave 5 stars, Imperial Hubris, this book is a five-star must read. I have read LOTS of books on Iraq, terrorism, Islamics, cultural issues, politics, etc. ove the last 20 years - This IS THE definite text hundreds of times better than the 9-11 Commission Report.
Using a free and open approach to research and citing EVERY reference as it is reported allows people to do their own research and draw their own conclusions. Reading this book leaves one with the clear impression that Bush LIED to the Commission, that Rice LIED to the Commission and that the warnings given prior to 9-11 are completely inexcusable regardless of whether that means we do something about it or not. Read this impartial book and understand what the 9-11 Commission left out. The book is also incomplete and the research growing (over time) at http://www.cooperativeresearch.org
The vast amount of material makes it unwieldy to read online but the book itself is a surprisingly easy read in a news summary/blurb format.
VITAL TO HISTORY and THE PUBLIC DEBATE - Every library and every school and every bookstore should carry this book! Consider buying it for your local library and preserve a true record of events for posterity!
Be informed. Help others get at the truth:
Even after the final report of Charles Duelfer to Congress saying that Iraq did not have a significant WMD program, 72% of Bush supporters continue to believe that Iraq had actual WMD (47%) or a major program for developing them (25%).
Fifty-six percent assume that most experts believe Iraq had actual WMD and 57% also assume, incorrectly, that Duelfer concluded Iraq had at least a major WMD program.
Similarly, 75% of Bush supporters continue to believe that Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda, and 63% believe that clear evidence of this support has been found. Sixty percent of Bush supporters assume that this is also the conclusion of most experts, and 55% assume, incorrectly, that this was the conclusion of the 9/11 Commission.
These are some of the findings of a new study of the differing perceptions of Bush and Kerry supporters, conducted by the Program on International Policy Attitudes and Knowledge Networks, based on polls conducted in September and October. http://www.pipa.org/OnlineReports/Pres_Election_04/html/new_10_21_04.html
Steven Kull, director of PIPA, comments, "One of the reasons that Bush supporters have these beliefs is that they perceive the Bush administration confirming them."
This is not sour grapes but a realistic assessment of what people out there really believe. This book can help. I plan to buy multiple copies for friends, family and my library. Consider doing the same. You can preview the book at the website (listed above), http://www.cooperativeresearch.org, but my recommend it that it is much better to buy the printed version.
Rating: Summary: An eye-opening reference book on 9/11 Review: Beware! When you read the first pages of the book, you might lose your good faith in the government. You might perhaps not even believe anything they tell you on terrorism from now on. But that is not necessarily a bad thing...
Over the last three years I watched Paul's timeline project grow on his web site. Already one year after 9/11 it contained a lot of very disturbing information. But now, printetd, it is an incredible document of all relevant bits of information published by the "mainstream media" worldwide relating to 9/11.
It starts with the beginning of the history in 1979 with the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan - provoked by the CIA. That will be the first surprising bit of information for many, and like every other entry it is backed by articles of major media outlets.
Naturally the day of 9/11 is described in every detail by literally hundreds of news reports. The book covers all important 9/11 news up to 2004. After reading a lot of 9/11 stuff in the last three years, I highly recommend this book.
The book has some important qualities:
1) It may be used as a complete reference book for all relevant news items relating to 9/11.
2) You will read of many disturbing facts that appeared once in the news, but never made it to the headlines and were "forgotten" thereafter, so you learn a lot of more hidden aspects of the "New Pearl Harbor".
3) It documents the many incredible contradictions in the official version of what happened on 9/11 and why. You will notice that even with the final report of the 9/11 commission a lot of very important questions are still unanswered, many contradictions unresolved, important background information unmentioned.
4) In short: It is perhaps the best book ever written on this important topic.
After reading the book, you will know a lot more of 9/11 and will see that the official story of this day has more holes than a good story should have. But: It is not a conspiracy book! Even if some ideas you get while reading the book could be called a conspiracy theory, everything is documented by mainstream newspaper or television reports. You can all look them up for yourself on Paul's internet project. The book almost has a scholarly quality - but it is thrilling!
It is common practice to denounce critical questions regarding 9/11 as conspiracy stuff - but this killer argument cannot be used against Paul's book, since it meticulously proves every point by publicly available reports.
Rating: Summary: A great book for fact lovers and truth seekers! Review: Mr. Thompson's book is a perfect chronicle of truth regarding the 9/11 tragedy. It is also a great review of the 9/11 antecedent and subsequent events. Mr. Thompson's book is highly factual, obsessively impeccable, and definitively enlightening.
I would highly recommend this book for every truth seeker.
Mr. Thompson's exhaustive research is brilliant!
Rating: Summary: An amazing, exhaustive research guide to all things 9/11 Review: Paul Thompson and the Center for Cooperative Research have done a simply magnificent job compiling this book, which explores everything that you knew, you didn't know, or that you may have heard only briefly about 9/11 and the fight against terrorism before and since that horrible day. It is a good-sized book, and every single page has at least two or three facts culled from the nation's mainstream press that will shock, enrage, or sadden you.
Thompson provides media citations for almost every sentence in the book, so you can look the information up on your own, if you feel so inclined. In fact, Thompson encourages you to do this. And you will WANT to do it, because if there's anything that this book screams, it's that you simply cannot take everything your leaders or the media have been telling you at face value. You HAVE to put all the pieces together and think. Thompson does a huge favor to the American people by showing what those pieces are and where they go together in time.
There is so much in this book that I was not aware of or that I had forgotten about. Remember the insider trading on airline and WTC stocks that took place just before 9/11? Haven't heard much about that since then, have you? Well, it was a lot worse than you think. And our very own media reported on it, but you didn't see it on the front page, and it's been essentially hushed up ever since. By whom? Thompson presents the facts and allows you to draw your own conclusions.
This is a hugely important book. It has been heartily endorsed by families of the victims of 9/11, and I believe it is required reading for ANYONE seeking understanding about what happened that day, and about what has been happening in the war on terrorism ever since. This will be your first and last reference to all things 9/11.
Rating: Summary: Read it and make up your own mind - then get mad. Review: This book is a number of things. First, it is an exhaustive work of scholarly research with enough footnotes to satisfy and then some. To get a feel for what I am talking about one may view his work in an online version at www.cooperativeresearch.org. The shear academic quality is enough reason to buy the book.
Second, the website mentioned is a relatively new phenomena in that it is an "open source" research site. Mr. Thompson's work has been posted for comment and criticism for several months now and has been honed to a fine edge.
And third, this book is the scariest piece of work you will ever read. I'm not kidding you. This is scarey stuff. We've been treated like a bunch of sheep being led to the slaughter. There was an old sci-fi film where the aliens came down and presented humanity with a book "The Serving of Humans" or something similar. As the protagonists are boarding the ship to go visit the alien homeworld, a translator bursts in and yells out "It's a cookbook!"
That's the feeling you come away with here. You wont put it down but don't expect to enjoy it. But for goodness sake, read it.
Rating: Summary: THE book about 9/11! Review: This is an absolut must read for everybody interested in what happened on 9/11 and why. The singular charcteristic of this book is that every quotation, every bit of information is backed by mainstream sources and/or official documents from the government. In general Paul Thompson refuses to use other sources (By giving the internet adresses of all sources Thompson allows the reader to check and doublecheck everything. Who wants to have a taste of the quality of his work should have a look at www.cooperativeresearch.org) It needs to be stressed that Paul Thompson not only strives for a highly scientific approach to analyze 9/11 by using only relaible sources but he refrains from drawing conclusions, always sticking to the facts and never giving way to a simple idioligical discussion.
But the text is nonetheless very readable and highly frightening. Especially if one compares this book to the 9/11 commission report the one realizes how many questions were simply left untouched and how many questions were not answered correctly. Not suprisingly many family members of the victims of 9/11 highly praised Paul Thompson's work. Their comments can be read at the homepage already mentioned.
One can only hope that this incredible piece of work helps to continue to press for a real independent investigation!
Rating: Summary: "THE"911 reference book Review: this is the most jaw dropping, awe inspiring book written on the subject. This book is the most THOROUGHLY documented I have seen. You can check the facts out for yourself because almost every sentence in this book is documented with verifiable sources.I know this book took a long time to compile because I have followed it online and was waiting for the book to come out. Another good book on the subject is WELCOME TO TERRORLAND by DANIEL HOPSICKER.Barry and the Boys by Daniel Hopsicker is also a good read.
Rating: Summary: The Indispensable 9/11 Resource Review: Thompson's 9/11 timeline has long been the indispensable resource for those doing serious research into 9/11. But it has also served as an excellent introduction into problems with the official story. It does this simply by showing discrepancies between this story and hundreds of stories in the mainstream press (to which Thompson restricts himself). My own work on the subject began, for example, by studying the material provided by Thompson, and this material has remained my primary resource.
It is great that this magnificent labor of love--love for the truth--is now available in book form, so that it is far more widely accessible. The Terror Timeline, furthermore, is not simply the material that was previously available on the Internet. Rather, Thompson made many last-minute additions, responding in particular to reports by the 9/11 Commission.
One can never know, of course, what the effect of a book will be. But my guess is that if people begin reading The 9/11 Commission Report in conjunction with Thompson's book, the Report will start getting fewer 5-star and far more 1-star reviews.
