Summary: Amazon.com employee and future seaman recruit
Review: I have read this book. I finished it on 6 Jan. 2005. I am scheduled to go to camp on 27 Jan. 2005. After reading this book I want to leave tomorrow. A lot of my friends are in the Navy and Mr. Leahy pretty much lay it out for you and tell you the day-to-day schedule. I have read a couple of other books on the Navy but none that have been as good and descriptive as this one. I think this was an excellent idea Mr. Leahy and would just like to thank you for getting me better prepared for what lies ahead. I would recommend this book to ANYONE who is entering the Navy or have relatives in the Navy.

Review: I just finished "Honor, Courage, Commitment -- Navy Boot Camp". I went through the Great Lakes Training Center myself in 1988, and served as a Recruit Division Commander during the time the author was there researching the book. He hit it right on the head! He has an amazing eye for detail, and a light and entertaining way of telling the story of Navy Boot Camp. I recommend this book to anyone who is even thinking about joining the Navy, and who wants to know what to expect when they get off the bus at "1405". And, if you are an old sailor -- from Great Lakes, Orlando or San Diego -- read this book and see how things are done today. You'll be like me -- it is so life like and realistic that I was half looking around behind me to see if my old company commander was sneaking up on me. This book is a winner Keith Memori

Summary: From a Navy Mom
Review: My son went to bootcamp last October and it was a very difficult time for me, especially not knowing what was happening to him. Fortunately, I found this wonderful book which I read 3 times while he was there. It was almost like being there. It gave me an understanding and appreciation for what he was going through. I recommend this book to anyone planing to join or who has a loved one joining the Navy.

Review: this book gives the reader a great insight into boot camp and the various experiences and emotions that an individual goes through. i am currently doing research on what branch to enlist in and i found this book was most helpful in describing not only the day to day life but what it feels like to a recruit. i highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking of a military career or anyone who is just interested in what recruits experience during their time at rtc.

Review: We purchased this book shortly after our son left for Navy Boot Camp. The only problem with the book is that we couldn't put it down! It is now being read by the 4th person in our family and our son is still in Boot Camp! I only wish he could have read it before he left. This book is full of day-to-day information and really helped us see what our son is talking about in the weekly letters he writes. Thank you, Mr. Leahy!
