Rating: Summary: comprehensive summary of western warfare Review: The lazy person's guide to the history of western warfare, this book provides a complete history from The Peloponnesian to The Vietnam War. It includes passages from the original historians who chronicled those wars, and some commentary. It is well written, easy to follow, and provides a great summary for those western-centric war people. My only request: make another book like this for Eastern Warfare. All in all a fantastic compendium. And hey, at least he admits to quoting from other authors.
Rating: Summary: Good but I have seen better Review: This book is ok. The problem I had with it is the translations of some of the accounts are not done very well. Some of them are pretty good, but I have read translations of some of the accounts in other books and I found the translations holding more to the intent of author. Though this book has this problem, when push comes to shove it is a good book with good insight. This is a great book for ppl who have problems reading translations that stick more to the original content of the document.
