It is all history in the raw, written by the participants at the time of the events described. And when you've read the pages of the Naval Chronicle, you will realilze that the fictional exploits of Jack Aubrey, Horatio Hornblower, and Richard Bolitho are not fantastic at all, simply reflections of what the real Royal Navy did two centuries ago.
