Rating: 2 stars
Summary: factual account but not very engaging
Review: Using interviews and war diaries, this tells the story of RAF Hornchurch from its establishment in 1915 to the Autumn of 1940. I was disappointed because, while the facts are here, most of the drama is not. Some of the anecdotes are interesting, but much of the book is a rather tedious string of "four planes went out, three came back" passages. These manage to give a sense of the pace of operations, but the effect is still flat. I thought the part on WWI better than WWII (although I'm more interested in the later). Pictures were fair.
