Summary: An Authoritative Account
Review: Retired British Territorial Army officer William Fowler has done a superb job describing not only the September 2000 rescue of British soldiers held hostage in Sierra Leone, but provided a well written examination of the long lasting conflict in West Africa. His account of the roots of the problem is necessary to understand events in their historical context, and makes the book useful to those with an interest in contemporary Africa. Likewise, his thorough description of the planning and support efforts behind the operation will be appreciated by military professionals. Overall, a great book on a fascinating topic.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: not exciting
Review: This is a book long on historical backgrounds and logistical info. Very little that is colorful or revealing abt the culture of the British military or SAS.
