Review: A wonderfully written, poignant and humorous look at the Hawaii of gentler times. Many Kauaians will recognize relatives, friends, or themselves. The last chapter about the lead up to WWII was particularly fascinating as the author contrasted what was going on in the rest of the world with the preparations being made on Kauai. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in Hawaii before the tourism boom.
