Rating: Summary: Unique book Review: I was suprised. This is not the usual fare. This is a stimulating collection of ideas that actually may be revolutionary. I think I am "seeing beyond our evolutionarily limited worldview" now. To say something is revolutionary is common, but this book isn't. There seems to be something big brewing here in these little pages. The author does a lot of work tying the concepts to things in the world around us, and in backing up these ideas also with research. There are a lot of examples of a force at work from consciousness which are like jung's synchronicity in a lot of ways. This feature of our universe explains a lot. Actually it explains the whole universe sccording to the ideas in the book through a backward in time effect. The examples were fun to read. This book is so different, I can't really describe it. I liked the pictures in the glial cell chapter since I am not a brain scientist. It has something interesting to say about a lot of things. This book redefines god along with a lot of things. There is a lot that is integrated here. You pretty much have to read it because it is different than a lot of ideas. It relates to a lot of world problems. I recommend it to anyone in any field because it is visionary.
Rating: Summary: A Review: Steve Romer has crossed a threshold with this ground-breaking work. He has taken a revolutionary view of the working of the human brain and thereby explained our place in the universe in a way previously done only by sages, philosophers and prophets. This book combines in many ways the aim of religion with the method of science and provides a lucid, rational explanation of life and the actions of the races of man. This is not a magical key to enlightenment, but it does show that Steve Romer will be known to our children and grandchildren for being to brain science what Jung was to psychology or von Braun was to rocketry: a true visionary.
Rating: Summary: Like Gravity: Unity and Meaning are Intrinsic to the Cosmos Review: The first chapter was somewhat difficult to read. I found that this was so initially because the author talked about so many seemingly disconnected and unrelated things that I was unsure what to make of the book and why he was talking about them.
Only as I read some more, did I see it all come coherently together, and as the many examples that he provided eventually built more evidence for his theory of a monolithic Natural Law that solves many problems in various divisions within science and religion and language and symbolism and within social and racial issues.
Mr. Romer discusses the historical and "politically-incorrect" fact of almost 100% White European/American supremacy in their own Modern Western Civilization's cultures and inventions, in their scientific accomplishments, and in their technology and medicine.
Romer then tells us just why this is important to the world and to the relationship to the informational-based purposes that are inherent to our own continued Human survival and that is also true for all species and for all of life.
There is a coherence and a natural hidden force behind our everyday world that allows us to recognize patterns, metaphors, analogies, symbols, and to develop languages based upon our experiences and consciousness.
This coherent and natural hidden force is slowly revealed by Romer in his many original examples and in his many colorful illustrations.
Reading this book will be quite a mind-expanding journey for the open-minded and for any of those capable of free and independent thought.
An April 2004 issue of Scientific American had a cover story on glial cells in the brain that echos many of the ideas in the glial cell chapter of the book.
This fact alone reveals the revolutionary and cutting-edge nature of what Romer explores in his book.
This also gives some actual scientific credibility to some of his radical ideas since these very same ideas are now being backed-up by much of the more recent and emerging scientific evidence through research.
Big changes are coming soon and based upon this new knowledge and Romer is one of the first to see it.
I do highly recommend that you read this book
by Romer for your own self and to discover these
recently uncovered scientific and religious insights
into these previously-hidden Natural Laws of the Cosmos.
Rating: Summary: White Supremacy Propaganda Review: This was not even worth one star. What a waste of money! This is white supremacy propaganda wrapped up in poorly documented, yet authoritatively stated hogwash. While listing several pages of references, nothing in the book was footnoted. This book is a scam to draw in people who would never buy this book if its intended agenda was clearly stated. Stay clear of this book and this author.
