Rating: Summary: Republicans, please read. Review: This book is so well written and so well researched, it's hard to imagine that anyone would read it and still trust our president. I realize that many Americans are cows, who want only to be told what to think and how to feel about the issues; and for them, Bush is the perfect president.
For those who want to be well educated on the political system and agendas the politicians themselves have, reading this book is the perfect start. Watching C-Span's morning show, it is appalling that many people are still under the assumption that Iraq was behing the 9/11 attacks. This underscores the ignorance of much of the public.
We have on our hands a president who applies rules to others that he has not been able to abide by himself.
As governor of Texas, Bush put in place one of the harshest criminal systems in America. He has also broken many law himself. Driving under the influence, insider trading, alleged cocaine use...where does it end? Yet no one seems to hold Bush accountable. Perhaps that is why , to this day, he will not admit any misgivings on his course of action in Iraq. Why should he? He's gotten away with murder. Literally.
Unger higlights the financial and political ties to the Saudi royalty to the very beginnings, when the elder Bush was given his first overseas business by the head of that family. Fast forward a decade or two when Saudis bailed W. out of yet another financial failure, purchasing his Harken stock. There was an investigation of insider trading, but the head of the commission was appointed by Bush's father. Martha Stewart, anyone?
I could go into more detail, but my predecessors have done a sufficient job.
Read this book. PLease.
Rating: Summary: Grain of salt.... Review: This book was great but should be taken, as with all the reviews (or those attempted rebuttals disguised as reviews) with a grain of salt. The right wing can't stand dissent and the rich can't stand being outted or questioned.
Read this book and make your own decisions. And while your at it, read the rest of the books concerning Bush as well.
Rating: Summary: best book so far this year Review: where farhenheit 9/11 got a lot of stuff from. real easy read, easy to understand, PLENTY of info that will shock you.
