Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great history of a little-known Native American tribe
Review: My father is a Lumbee who was born and raised in Pembroke, North Carolina. Unfortunately, in California, it's next to impossible to find out information on the Lumbee Indians in any general text on Native Americans. This book, along with "To Die Game" (which I first read as a teenager) are the two best resources on Lumbee history I have run across.Like many people out there, I've always wanted to know something about my ancestors, and Mr. Dial seems to know just about everything. I've never met him but he is spoken very highly about by my relatives, and upon reading "The Only Land I Know" I can see why!
