Review: As with his other books,I got no less then what I expected. A great book. Jim has written several other books and I believe that I have read them all. This book was no exception. His style of writting puts you right there with the men. As a Nam Vet I have a little knowledge of what went on there, and Jim put every thing in perspective.Thank you Jim for another Great Book. Would rate this higher then the five that I could rate it. Roadrunner 6 out

Summary: Outstanding and well written first hand account!
Review: Donahue gives an outstanding first hand account of the adventures, trials and challenges he faced as a member of the MGF in War Zone D. It is detailed in its description and absolutely riviting. I'm now reading Donahue's account of the Blackjack 33 mission. This book is titled Blackjack 33 and is yet another outstanding book. You should also read "Hard to Forget," By Steven M. Yedinak.

Summary: A stunnigly real look into the minds of our Special Forces
Review: I have read "Mobile Guerilla Force", "BlackJack 33", and "BlackJack 34" All three of the books are an amazing read, not the typical blood, mud and tears, hovever there is unfortunately a historically real amount of that as well. Not only do you get a sence of what life was like as a special operations operator in VietNam, but the laughs as well as the sorrows of day to day life in VietNam. The author also opened a porthole into the relationship that was built with the indiginous peoples that fought along side the Mobile Geurilla Force whose heroism is nothing short of legondary. As a reader, one can see the author settle into a comfortable writing niche' and progressively make each page seemingly more personal and real ("in the first person" if you will) to the reader. More stories like these need to be told of the triumphs of American Gi's in VietNam.
POW, MIA, VFW, Thankyou, you are not forgotten!
Sincerely Jc

Summary: MGF - What you would expect from Mr. Donahue
Review: I have read at least 2 dozen books on combat in Vietnam and this is one of the best. The book is very well written. The author really makes you feel as if you are walking in the jungle of Vietnam side by side members of the mobile guerrilla force.

Summary: Explosive Account of Secret Green Beret Missions
Review: Jim Donahue was a young medic who volunteered to join Task Force 957 - Mobile Guerrilla, to further the US recon effort along the Ho Chi Minh trail through War Zone D. He details the chilling operations performed by MGF and, of course, the use of his magic hands as he tries to keep wounded guerrillas fighting at full strength. Witness the dramatic process of a 19 year old sergeant coming of age as he deals with the death and destruction lurking in the cruel environment and the horrors of ground combat.

Donahue pulls no punches in describing the activities of MGF. Students of historical combat actions and Green Beret tactics and techniques are treated to a superb account of the kinds of things that cause people to wonder about the efficacy of war for any reason.

Donahue has written a masterpiece that should be read by all who have an interest in the Green Berets and other special operations' forces. I couldn't put it down, and can't wait for his next action-packed thriller.

Summary: Very good book about jungle combat
Review: Mobile Guerilla Force is a very good book about the only American unit to use guerrilla style hit and run tactics during the Vietnam war. This book chronicles a mission called Blackjack 31 that lasted nearly a month in VC territory. The light company of 13 Americans and Cambodians successfully navigate this enemy sanctuary, the infamous War Zone D. During this mission they called in 27 airstrikes, raided 15 base camps, & fought 51 engagements in some of the harshest terrain in the world. The vivid and dark jungles are brought to life with amazing clarity. The strength of this book is that you feel the danger of moving through the jungle and at any time may face a violent sudden death. I enjoyed learning about the Bodes and was impressed with how they can fight and keep up with the highly trained Americans. This book is highly reccomended to those interested about Special Forces, the war in Vietnam, or Guerrilla Warfare. It is a fast read and you will be impressed with this story.

Summary: The Forbidden Zone has been penetrated.
Review: This is one of the most exciting books that I've read about the war in Vietnam. Donahue puts you right there amongst the brave and loyal Khmer soldiers and the cunning and equally committed Viet Cong. Having spent some time in the area written about, I can attest to the accuracy of his brilliantly portrayed environment. This book is going into my permanent collection along with Blackjack-33 and Blackjack-34. Well written book that you can't put down until the end.

Summary: War as seen through the eyes of a warrior
Review: This is the most factual, hard-hitting true stories of a man who has been there, done that. I could not put the book down until I read it completely. I felt like I was there again smelling the jungle, hearing the sounds of war. This is the best book on the real accounts of the war in VietNam as fought by the Mobile guerilla force of the US Army Special Forces. It makes a man proud to know that he was also part of this elite unit. Keep up the good work, Donahue.
