Rating: Summary: THE DANGEROUS GAME Review: I bought this book by chance: my cousin appears in the first chapter - Operation Citronelle - and i wanted to know more about what happened. The translation is unpolished in parts, but I am learning something about the structure of German operations in France. I am pleased with the book and have contacted the author. Having read The White Rabbit and Bravest of the Brave, I know what happened to Captain Desmond Hubble in Buchenwald. It is astounding to think of being alone, poorly-resourced, and conscious that several hundred miles away is the largest invasion force ever assembled; but YOU are on your own with Waffenn SS, SD, Gestapo, Abwehr, Wehrmacht, Gendamerie, and collaborators all ready to take you, torture you, kill you. These are the boys and girls who went into the house by the backdoor hoping to make it easier for the invading armies to batter down the front door. Worth reading.Update: the author and his publisher studiously ignored my letters. I have since run the text past some of those central to the chapter and errors have been revealed. Interesting, but not scholarship.
