Summary: Sistahs in College - Telling An Important Story
Review: Juanita Johnson-Bailey has delivered, what I am convinced will be, a qualitative classic on research about Black women who return to/go to college after being away from school for several years.

The participants in her study are diverse, and yet their voices meld together to tell the story of a Black woman determined, focused, fearful yet not afraid to overcome in order to fulfill her dream of completing her college education.

"Sistahs" breaks the mold for what you expect research to be -- it is not dry, but bold, engaging and difficult to put down. It is layered in the complexities and "isms" of sexism and racisim that Black women face on a daily basis.

"Sistahs" helps to fill the void on Black reentry female college students, and tells the all-important story of the determination and will of Black women that has been key to their survival in this country.
