Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a good book on the campaign that should have ended the war
Review: this book clearly shows the peninsula campaing through the eyes of the soilders through letters to their family we hear stories of Ball's Bluff, the battle of the Monitor and Virginia(merimac), yorktown, etc. some of the stories are kind of funny like the plans of one Confederate to throw his jacket over the pilot house of the Monitor to prevent the pilot from seeing, or how at the battle of Burnt Chimmney's a yankee sniper took postition in the chimmney and hoiw the rebels finally routed him out and the ensuing race for the lines that followed. This book and the series is very good because it shows the human side of the battle and lets you see the soilders sence of humor in the face of death while also informing you of the battles themselves
