Rating: Summary: another fine book about "the greatest generation" Review: I loved studying and teaching World War II for over three decades. P-51 and P-38 fighter planes have fascinated me since I was a boy during the 1940s. PECK'S BAD BOYS taught me information I didn't know about World War II. The author presents interesting details about skillful men who flew reconnaissance planes over western Europe-their flight training, their discussions about their aircraft, their everyday camaraderie. Photos and documents complement the text-planes, citations, and important military and media figures such as Eisenhower and Lowell Thomas. (One photo showed the character of the book's main character, Colonel Peck. He honored his mechanic by having his mechanic's name painted on his P-51's side under the cockpit.)
