Rating: Summary: commie collectibles for comrades and capitalists! Review: Here is a high-quality "coffee-table" sized book loaded with rare Russian memorabilia. Every glossy page contains luscious full-color (but mostly red, of course!) photos of Soviet-era collectibles dating from the Revolution through the Great Patriotic War, Five-Year Plans, and Cold War, up until the collapse of the Union. The text accompanying the illustrations is fascinating, regardless of whether one might consider it historical or propagandic. Communists and Capitalists will find "Lenin's Legacy" fascinating and inspiring. It is a superb reference source for the quality, value, and availability of medals and orders, posters, flags, clothing, buttons and pins, paintings, busts and sculptures, and many other items of interest to collectors.

Rating: Summary: Beautiful book, but a bit disappointing for collectors Review: This book has a lot of beautiful photos of Soviet memorabilia. The captions provide some useful information about the objects, though the valuations seem rather high (at least for the items I am familiar with). However, the text hardly mentions the artifacts and instead presents a straight-forward history of the Party, armed forces, Komsomol, etc. That's fine, but why would you buy this book to read about Soviet history, when there are so many other options available? If you have the [$$$] it might be worth buying for the pictures, but it is not useful as a reference guide.
