Review: This book will appeal to those of you that support affirmative action and that think black people's problems lie mainly with the system or the government.

I didn't enjoy this book because Kelley uses straw man reasoning. He takes the weakest arguments of his opponents and defeats them (chapter 4). This is a logical fallacy.

I was bothered by the way he referred to all whites as 'white guys.' Whites, white men or white people would have been preferable. What does an author's race have to do with his arguments anyway? I think it's simple ad hominem.

Finally, I don't think Kelley provides any good solutions for african-american problems.

If you think my complaints sound unreasonable, I'm sure you'll like this book. If not, stay away from this book.
