Review: This is an extremely well researched book that offers a very interesting perspective on the "growth" of societies. By exploring how elites in society attempt to further their personal wealth or power, Bodley shows how shifts in the society occur further concentrating the benefits to the elites while spreading the costs to the masses. He mathematically shows how this concentration happens and how it can be predicted. This book is incredible to read using examples from many different cultures throughout history and many different parts of the world.
