Rating: Summary: From The Sacramento Bee: Review: "'Kitchens,' by Diane Dorrans Saeks, provides good inspiration. The paperback features kitchens designed by some of California's top interior designers, architects and chefs. Saeks includes sage advice from pros such as Alice Waters, chef and owner of Chez Panisse in Berkeley: 'I don't like hard surfaces like stainless steel for countertops. My countertop is African 'painted' slate, which is dark gray 'painted' with copper and glints of mica. When oil gets spilled on it, it just washes off.'"
Rating: Summary: From Publishers Weekly: Review: "Diane Dorrans Saeks adds 'Bedrooms' and 'Bathrooms' to 'Kitchens' and 'Living Rooms' in Chronicle's California Design Library. Each volume features a Style Portfolio displaying the work of well-known designers and a Design Workbook with ideas for both complete renovations and simple updating effects. 'Bedrooms' includes thoughts on color, aspects of feng shui, lush draperies, the gracious guest room and children's bedrooms; specific to 'Bathrooms' are discussions of tiles, fixtures, accessories and the powder room. These small, well-priced volumes pack real punch."
Rating: Summary: Don't waste you money! Review: Another piece of pretension. There is very little in this book that the everyday working-on-a-budget person would find useful or helpful. The elevated position of the 'designer', and the negated, nay pejorative, position of the creative imput of the 'client' is much in evidence throughout the text of this book. A boutique piece of fluff. And a tree had to die for this!
Rating: Summary: Excellent photography, plus information Review: If you want to see the cutting edge of kitchen design this is the book for you. The scope of design that Ms. Dorrans Saeks covers is incredible; from funky-comfortable to high tech glam. I found the book a real inspiration for my own kitchen remodel.

Rating: Summary: Excellent photography, plus information Review: Very stylish with excellent photography. And this book has plenty of useful information, combined with witty writing. Lots of insights... plus escapism like a large coffee table book.
