Rating: Summary: Least favorite book in my pattern library Review: I try to buy anything that Nola Theiss puts out. She has the most wonderful sweater patterns to make up. Since I have crocheted from the age of 12 these were no problem to me to make up. Some of the designs were more detailed than others, but for an intermediate or expert crocheter, these will be no problem at all to master. When you get through with them, you will have a wardrobe that will rival Saks sweater department. I would buy it again!

Rating: Summary: Beautiful Sweaters...but Review: If you have no clue on how to create a knit rib, you're in trouble.
Rating: Summary: Excellent quality sweater patterns for crocheters Review: If you've ever envied the variety of sweater patterns knitters have to chose from and wished there were more good crocheted patterns out there then this is the book for you. From simple to challenging, every pattern is beautiful. I only wish they went to extra large sizes, but they do go to large. The clear instructions and beautiful color photographs show you all you want to know about a pattern. This is one of the best books out there for crocheted sweaters.
Rating: Summary: Better crochet sweater books out there . . . Review: Instead of this book, which is quite dated, I would recommend Crochet With Style: Fun-To-Make Sweaters for All Seasons by Melissa Leapman or Today's Crochet by Crochet Guild of America. I found Nola Theiss's book to be pretty vague as to types and amount of yarn needed for most of the projects, and she has you knit (!) the ribbing for her sweaters. Which is a drag if you don't knit, yes?
Rating: Summary: Great photos Review: The pictures are truly beautiful. I think that some of the designs are for people who like to punish themselves - the colour changes are brutal. But all in all, I like it. Comes with the usual how to directions at the front.
Rating: Summary: This book requires knitting skills as well as crochet. Review: There are great color pictures, and the stitches are all explained carefully, in case there are one or two you're not familiar with. My only concern is that nearly every pattern requires a ribbing knit. If you're unwilling or unable to knit, keep looking. If that's not a problem, this should be great.
Rating: Summary: Least favorite book in my pattern library Review: There are some interesting concepts and stitches in this book, but the sweaters are out-of-date and are not designed with the comfort of the wearer in mind. In addition, the patterns are difficult to follow. There is no information to help the reader alter the patterns in any way for a better fit. A very experienced crocheter would be able to manipulate these patterns into something lovely, perhaps, but otherwise don't disappoint yourself!
Rating: Summary: Great book, even if you don't knit! Review: This book has lots of beautiful and unique sweaters to crochet. Some patterns do have knit neck and sleeve edgings, but I had no problem using crochet for the edgings instead. If you don't ever adapt patterns to suit your own taste and skills, this may not be the book for you. Otherwise, it is wonderful - don't pass it up!
