Review: For restorationists and those interested in period design, this book is a valuable source of typical details. Balconies, doors, windows, trim of all kinds, drawn in elevation and cross-section, this book has more than ample information about how Italianate, Gothic, and Second Empire homes were decorated. Although elevations of residences in these styles are shown at the end of the work, no floor plans are given. Therefore if plans is what one is looking for, better to look elsewhere. Overall, an excellent book for the person who can interpret the detailed drawings.
