Rating: Summary: A cut above the rest Review: Don't read this book unless you're ready to become a fountain fanatic. Reading the book changed me from just wanting to make a simple fountain for decoration to being an avid fountaineer, constantly evaluating everyday objects for their fountain-enhancing potential. It has really brought out my creative side. This book tells you EVERYTHING you need to know to make your own fountain, from practical advice about appropriate materials to use to how to drill holes in rocks. Lots of pictures guide you along the way. An added bonus in the book is all the fountain historical and symbolism information and Feng Shui cures. If you enjoy creating things, you'll love this book.

Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I ordered this book primarily based on a glowing review that appeared here. Unfortunately this book did not live up to my expectations. The book is small and therefore requires all of its "300" photos to be slightly larger than a commemorative stamp (unfortunately lacking the vibrant colors of our stamps as the photos are all black and white). The small photos often lack clarity and are printed on paper not best suited for photo reproduction. The appendix which promises to direct readers to various suppliers tends to tout the author's own company unless you happen to be a wholesaler and then there are other sources which might be of help. The first quarter or so of the book delves into psycho bable about the healing, soothing potential of fountains and "room energy" which most people wanting to learn about construction don't really need to know; they already know they like fountains and find them soothing. This book should be rewritten with a larger format and clearer pictures and leave the psychology for the therapist's couch. I returned this book for a refund.
Rating: Summary: A cut above the rest Review: I thought the sections about symbolism and feng shui, plus historical info and photos put this book on a level beyond the books that deal only with the how-to instructions. Not only a "how-to" it's a "why-to" create a fountain. Those of us who are interested in environmental energy will find a wealth of information here.

I also appreciated the author's spiritual touch in her foreword, introduction and in chapter 3 which were quite inspiring and uplifting to me. I always refer that book to friends who develop a desire to learn about building indoors water fountains.
